Hanger Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 now... are we talking about the RS? or normal edition? or MR? ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○
Guest subiecity Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 the one that is like 280hp or so....i dont relalyy remebe all the evo's
bmorrisj Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 the one that is like 280hp or so....i dont relalyy remebe all the evo's that would be all of them? RS=power nothing, no sound deadning, no radio MR=6sp, vortex generator, sunroof your insurance would equally suck with either car
showbo Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I would prefer and STI over and Evo MR anyday. Even a STI limited over a Evo MR. One even the limited STI is cheaper than a evo MR, more HP, more TQ, bigger motor, AND it comes with a STOCK bullet proof 6 spd transmission. I've heard rumors that the 5spd in a Evo RS and Evo IX is stronger than a 6spd evo MR tranny, EVEN STILL, more people break the evo 5spd, than anyone has broken the STI 6spd. Im sure they are out there, BUT 2 years of being on car forums, i've heard of MAYBE 1 or 2 STi's bust there tranny's. Were talking 500+HP for a while before they broke. Even still, those 6spds are rated to handle 500 or more. That being said, in my opinion, STI hands down just for the tranny, and the extra .5 deplacement alone. Oscar
Guest subiecity Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 very nice, im asking becuase i am considering an sti or evo, somthing fun to tune, and agin user freindly to work with, thanks for the info, please people keep in comin
Infamous1 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Depends on your goals, stock they are pretty equal. The stock turbo on the EVO is a little more powerful though. Handling I would give a slight edge to the EVO but not nothing a descent driver couldn't make up. But Subaru quality also surpasses Mitsubishi's's.
Guest subiecity Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 +1 thats what i constintly hear is that the suabru quality is better then mistus
dark_templer_102 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 However, I like the look of the new Evos...I want to see what the STi looks like now.
Guest subiecity Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 +123456789...the new evos look nuts bro, as am i im waiting for the STI look now
Beanboy Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Very curious if Subaru has anything up their sleeves in response to the active diffs coming to th US Evos with the next gen. -B http://www.standardshift.com
97itr153 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 STI has better: Performance (especially low-end and throttle response) Interior Ride Evo has better: Handling Overall, I prefer the Evo Out of the three Evos, I like the Evo Base and the Evo RS. I think the Evo MR is way over priced and it is slower than the $7k cheaper RS!
CasopoliS Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 2 different cars do your research, sit in them, and think of everything its a long debate between the two, heck you can probably google this topic edit: google FTW http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0307scc_sti_vs_evo/ [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioNjbsjAZ8k]YouTube - STi vs. EVO[/ame] http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/ly/evo_vs_sti.htm http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=109126 http://www.buzzhumor.com/videos/1467/Top_Gear_STI_vs._EVO_Part_2
Rommel Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 If you're into modding, the EVO is cheaper to mod and get better results than the STI. Stock for stock the EVO's handling is way better than the STI
Borti Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I have driven both extensively, and honestly, both are tremendous performer's with a lot of potential. Drive them both, decide which one you like best, then go for it.
Jedi Pimp Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 The upcoming Evo X is gonna be tough to beat. Suburu has to pull out some of the good stuff.
MannyLegacy Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 The upcoming Evo X is gonna be tough to beat. Suburu has to pull out some of the good stuff. That's exactly what I thought too. But then I talked to Reza over at Santa Monica Subaru. He says that Subaru is not trying to keep up with the Evo anymore,..........."They want to Beat it". Evidently from what he told me the new STI is going to be SICK. Way more HP & Handling than the new EVO. Now we just have to wait and see if SOA has the balls to go through with it. :munch:
Metal2You Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Would that mean ~ 350HP in the new STI stock?
johnAWD Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I'm a big fan of the 4g63 motor, having owned/built/tuned a few of them in the past. I'm also a fan of the ej257 - more displacement and the boxer configuration is nice. Which car trips your trigger? Drive both, evaluate, choose.
MannyLegacy Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Would that mean ~ 350HP in the new STI stock? Yup, give or take. I wasn't told anything specific. But yeah in that neighborhood. :munch:
