stone Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 when driving slowly in a brand new (1500 Km), 3.0R spec.B 6 - manual transmition, 1st & 2nd gears are a littel noisy (especially on decelleration). is that normal ?
axis008 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Noisy how? It could be the differentials (which is normal, I think). -ben
Gator GT Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I'm noticing the same thing....especially on decelleration....I'm thinking diff lash? Has a really unsettling meshy sound when I lift off the gas. Does anyone (with a 07 B 6MT) feel additional notchiness (beyond the designed 6MT detents through the gate) during normal driving? SeattleLegacy Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 if its a subtle "whine", i've got it on a 2.5i 5-M/T as well. sounds a little like the in car audio from rally vids. i think its just typical of manuals. (5EAT guys chime in here)
vxracer Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I think that would be the diffs. I remember driving a 2.5 RS in 1999 hard. Lots of gear sounds! If the tranny is the same 6mt from STI, i would say the notchiness is the double synchronized 1st and 3rd gear, and triple synchronized 2nd gear if thats what you are referring to. dont forget- it needs to break in also. Nice choice by the way....
