kaho8930 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 i wanna know do anyone have the factory subwoofer that mount under the passenger seat ? do the sound is good ? and is it easy to install ? i saw on ebay , they sell like 180 $
rileyburton Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 i have the OEM subwoofer that i installed about a month after purchasing my 06 GT. the sound quality is very good for it's size (considering it's under the driver's seat). obviously, it's not gonna make the car shake like a pair of 12s with a huge amp. but it does improve the quality greatly vs. the stock system.
deneb Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 For a very compact, easy to install sub, it does OK filling out the bottom end. It accompanies the factory speakers and head unit pretty well. As the previous post said, it won't thump like a 12" sub or anything close, but you get to keep your trunk space and don't have to tear our your interior running wires.
dplacen Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 It sound good. It's not hard to install. I have an 06 GT sub on my 97GT. My car came with one but it blew out. The new one is a bit bigger.
lossol Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 It sounds great for stock speakers! Who needs to loose their hearing anyway. Go for it but also check out www.subaruparts.com I thought they had a good price on one. VBG1 gauges available at www.gtboostgauge.com
gringo74 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I have it for my 01 subie. It sounds great and really fills in where the stock speakers don't go. Did not get it for my new 07 subie, and don't really need it the SRS does a good job with the sound from the stock speakers. I think it is worth it, unless you have a 07.
bosco Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 plus it's made by Panasonic and is plug/play. bosco Stay Stock Stay Happy
Cliff Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I have it and it sounds pretty good. Not earth shaking. I think the problem with the stock set up is actually lack of high end.
kaho8930 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Thank you everyone , that what i want to hear . i have a pair of 12' but i hate to pass all the wires.....and then there is no space to pass the wire from battery to after the firewall.... i tried once and forget it ....i like plug and play better
Jazz95 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 +1 for non earth shaking...but I'm way past that mode anyway. It sounds good for certain kinds of music, not the greatest for hip hop though...
Brady Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I think it sounds pretty good too and I've been happy with it after I added it. Â What I will add to this though, is that it sounds best after taking some time to tune it. I installed it and thought it sounded like crap at first and was disappointed with my purchase. Undeterred, I spent my lunch hour the next day playing with the head unit and the sub unit playing with settings until I liked the way it sounded. The settings on my head unit changed drastically after I finished tuning it and I think it sounds very good for an OEM soundsytem.
SVXdc Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 i saw [factory subwoofers] on ebay , they sell like 180 $ If you buy one from eBay, make sure it includes the complete T-harness. Some people are selling them with part or none of the harness. See my thread on NASIOC for more information about how the harnesses should look: Stock head unit information -- pin-outs, subwoofer, aux inputs, and more You'll also see factory subwoofers being sold on the for sale forums here, frequently cheaper than $180. At $180 you're close to the prices of the aftermarket under-seat subwoofers, which may give you a little more thump for your buck. You can build your own T-harness to make these plug-and-play, and the install will be just as easy as the factory sub.

Levish Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 i'm happy with mine as well, not earth shattering but I think the car would benefit more from some sound deadening than a sub.
subfreq Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 The sub sounds good, espically if you adjust it properly. You can turn the gain all the way up and it will not distort.
subfreq Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Not only are you getting a subwoofer for a good price, but you're getting a massage chair in your car.
subfreq Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I've never had a bass shaker, but I imagine the effect is the same.
