ama0787 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Does anyone know if this will give us any of the features we ahve been wanting like the passengers ability to use the navigation while we are moving or any other benefits it might give us besides updated road and POI info. http://store.kenwoodusa.com/subaru/ TIA, Anthony
gianspi Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Try emailing them. enough zip ties and duct tape will fix anything.
Vimy101 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Nice find. $238 is not bad compared to the $600 rumors.

If it does allow that, then some programmer probably got fired for it. Ed
frank112916 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 does anyone know where one can order the actual nav system from?
SuperhawkLGT Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 How can it tell the passenger from the driver?
Vimy101 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 ^ I think you would have to put a 100 lb bag of cement in the pass. seat if you want to operate it solo.
Vimy101 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 does anyone know where one can order the actual nav system from? The system is fully integrated and from what I understand retrofitting it would be a huge challenge. Would mounting an aftermarket unit in the LGT cubby be satisfactory? It wouldn't be linked to the car's systems but the AM units are getting better by the year.

Would mounting an aftermarket unit in the LGT cubby be satisfactory? It wouldn't be linked to the car's systems but the AM units are getting better by the year. this is why I want to get an 07 spec.B. I am not dealing with an AT or no Navigation. That's such a stupid trade-off. Basically I'm limited in the cars I can own for these reasons 1) STI's insurance is too much. BMW's and audi's insurance is too much, plus anything in my price range is high mileage 3) My friend already owns a mazdaspeed6 and I won't drive the same car as he does. 4) The Spec.B is faster anyway and there are more mods for it 5) I need an AWD car for the winter snow I will encounter 6) Navigation is a must. so is integration and wheel controls. 7) I want a 6 speed transmission. Basically the 07 spec.B fills every need except I haven't been able to find any used. As you can tell I'm extremely picky when it comes to cars. I just wish subaru could do an integrated, more modern keyfob like BMW. Then there would be no other car for me except the Spec.B.
edkwon Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 pretty much the same reasons i bought my car, just remember that the 07 cars have a different ODBII/ECU communications standard, so none of the traditional ECU reflash methods works for it, this is the same with the 07 WRX and Sti as well, so if you want to do a serious retune for more power, its gonna have to wait until summer at least. ERLoft Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Not to be contradictory, but the guys at Cobb told me that the 07 STi was still on OBDII, not the new CAN protocol. Dunno if this is really true, but that's my understanding. The 08 STi most certainly will got to CAN, as it's much more capable of transmitting the large amounts of data that the current generation of cars are able to produce. I've still got my fingers crossed for some mid-May options, specifically for AccessPort. I've even offered to go to SLC if they need a Spec.B to test the interface on Not likely to happen, but what the hell... In regards to the original post and topic, nice find! I'd love to see the changelog from 1.1 to 2.0. Maybe I'll see if I can get a reply from them if I request the changelog... 2013 █S4 - Glacier White - DSG - B&O - Tech Package - Sports Diff - Napa - RS4 Grille - Stasis Exhaust - APR Intake - KW Variant 1 - Stern Control Arms - CR-15 - Stasis RSB - Moog Endlinks - PC Hyper Black Peelers - Deval Front Lip - ECS Rear Diffuser - Carbon Imports Ducktail - ECS Mirror Caps - Relak Paddle Extensions - Autostyle Floor Mats - LED Interior - V1 - Blackvue DR900s - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Opie Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Subaru Navigation Updates are now available, just got this e-mail: Ladies and Gentlemen, Good news. The navigation up-grade from 1.1 to 2.0 is now available directly from Kenwood for a purchase price of $238. The customer can order/purchase the up grade in two different ways. They can go to www.subaru.com or www.mysubaru.com and order/purchase directly from Kenwood. On www.subaru.com under "Highlights" opening page (right side bottom) and click on "Updated Subaru Navigation System DVD"
ERLoft Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I'd like to see that changelog before I drop $238 on two new $2 discs. The software's gotta have some changes worth spending the $$$ for, because if it's just the added roads since 1.1, I'm probably going to skip it. 2013 █S4 - Glacier White - DSG - B&O - Tech Package - Sports Diff - Napa - RS4 Grille - Stasis Exhaust - APR Intake - KW Variant 1 - Stern Control Arms - CR-15 - Stasis RSB - Moog Endlinks - PC Hyper Black Peelers - Deval Front Lip - ECS Rear Diffuser - Carbon Imports Ducktail - ECS Mirror Caps - Relak Paddle Extensions - Autostyle Floor Mats - LED Interior - V1 - Blackvue DR900s - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mvigneau Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Going from 1.1 to 2.0 is a large step, and I would have to venture to guess that it contains more than just roads, but I could be wrong. No Silent CD Aux-In Solution

ama0787 Posted February 27, 2007 Author Posted February 27, 2007 frank that is exactly what made me get the spec B I wanted both standard and navigation the other things just happen to be a bonus and now I love the red interior where at first i didnt and wanted black

ERLoft Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 ;1026899']Some poor deluded person at NASIOC thinks he's just tuned his 07 STI with the free reflashing software: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1209693 Hmm, just read that post and they seem to be able to. Enginuity lists the 2007 WRX as compatible and the 2007 STi as preliminary only. They've either faked a dyno, or this Enginuity open source software is actually ready to tune the 2007 now. As far as the hardware interface to the CAN standard, that's already available. This Site shows a CAN interface that's standard USB on the other side, so it may work for our cars. The site only lists Audi, but I'm thinking the CAN interface on the car end is going to be the same across the board. Otherwise it wouldn't be a 'standard'. The Enginutity site doesn't list the 2007 LGT ECU's, so we're not there yet for ourselves, but it's an interesting option once we're supported in their ECU definitions. 2013 █S4 - Glacier White - DSG - B&O - Tech Package - Sports Diff - Napa - RS4 Grille - Stasis Exhaust - APR Intake - KW Variant 1 - Stern Control Arms - CR-15 - Stasis RSB - Moog Endlinks - PC Hyper Black Peelers - Deval Front Lip - ECS Rear Diffuser - Carbon Imports Ducktail - ECS Mirror Caps - Relak Paddle Extensions - Autostyle Floor Mats - LED Interior - V1 - Blackvue DR900s - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
edkwon Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Thats probably true, and if you want to experiment thats fine, but i think most of us want to wait for the tried and true methods of ECUTEK or AP once they've sorted it out. Who knows, maybe they wont. Ed
ERLoft Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I'm sure they'll get it figured out. After all, it's essentially just a new communications protocol, not a whole new wheel, so to speak. I'm still planning on being patient and having Ian @ Harman do my tune once the AP is CAN compatible. 2013 █S4 - Glacier White - DSG - B&O - Tech Package - Sports Diff - Napa - RS4 Grille - Stasis Exhaust - APR Intake - KW Variant 1 - Stern Control Arms - CR-15 - Stasis RSB - Moog Endlinks - PC Hyper Black Peelers - Deval Front Lip - ECS Rear Diffuser - Carbon Imports Ducktail - ECS Mirror Caps - Relak Paddle Extensions - Autostyle Floor Mats - LED Interior - V1 - Blackvue DR900s - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
t-type86 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 BS wtf why should I have to shell out more money for 07 update nav when I have an 07!!!!!????!!!! I think Ill be making some phone calls
kenzo Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Any updates on new or improved functionality in the nav update? Hopefully they've removed the idiotic usage restrictions during travel.
douglas751 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I ordered the discs online on Monday and paid for next day UPS. I used my home address since if I did not, they said it would delay delivery as they would need to verify the order. Monday night there was a recording on my home answering machine to call Kenwood. I did, and they said that they needed to "Verify". On Wednedsay UPS leaves a notice that I must be home to receive the package, they will not leave it even with a signature on the form. I called UPS and will pick this up on Friday from their office. So, all I can say is that Kenwood USA in Peoria are a bunch of Hillbillies that have not a clue about E-Commerce. So, I recomend that any of you are ordering these discs just call Kenwood, becuase you will need to anyhow, and have the discs sent to your office and do not pay for next day as it will be a waste of cash. I will report on the maps and features this weekend.
Jon in CT Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I, too, ordered the new software Monday online, at 4PM EST. I opted for ground delivery and it shipped late the next day from East Peoria, IL. Right now it's in MA and is scheduled to arrive at my house in CT tomorrow. I didn't have to 'verify' anything and I doubt I'll have to sign anything when the package is delivered tomorrow. douglas751, you got shafted on the extra expense for overnight.
