Andyjo Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Alright, so this spring break my girlfiend and i are heading out to Colorodo. We're planning on making my sister's place in Golden our basecamp. So, what is there to do in Colorodo? we've been looking up stuff, planning on skiing at least once, maybe some hiking, of course the coors factory tour http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/images/smilies/boozing.gif, some national parks, if they're open would be cool. We were also thinking of heading down to see the Royal Gorge Bridge, and check out Colorodo Springs for a day or so. So if anyone has ideas or what to do, or wants to hangout, go skiing, maybe some hiking, let us know, we're open to ideas. We'll be sportin' the OBXT.
zmarko Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Rocky Mountain National Park. I could easily spend the rest of my life there.
rkl303 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 heard snow shoeing is fun. The plus side of it versus normal summer weather hiking is no freaking bugs...minus side i can't hike. I'm sure you could also do some type of mountain biking but not sure whered that be.
chenc544 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53885 And go down to Garden of Gods in Colorado Springs.
Komodo Wagon Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Tons of stuff to do. Red Rocks is a cool trip just on the other side of Golden. Ski anywhere off of I-70. Vail, Copper, Vail, Breck, Keystone, Winter Park you name it. There are some cool Snowmobile tours in Breck where you can ride up to the Continental Divide some are guided some are not. Then go to Glenwood Springs and hit the Hot Springs. From there, travel to Aspen and hang with the rock stars. You will not run out of things to see or do.
johnAWD Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 The snow this year is killer. If you ski or board, plan on a good 2-3 days to get your fill. Snowmobiling above the tree line is also a kick in the ass. YMCA of the Rockies is in RMNP - rental cabins are pretty cheap, and the scenery will remove the breath from your lungs. Garden of the gods is a must see. If you've got the time, the huge hot spring pool in Glenwood Springs is pretty cool - a great place to unplug/unwind after a day of skiing on that side of the state.
praedet Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Check out the Air Force Academy while you are down seeing Garden of the Gods... I hear it's the coolest

zmarko Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Ted, is the Academy open to the public again? Why did they close it? I was there in Aug of '05 on a vacation and visited the Academy. They were doing some construction near the chapel, but I believe everything was open (the visitor center definitely was).
praedet Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 They were under tight security for a while and not leeting visitors on...
