ogre840 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Like the title says, occasionally I get a ticking sound, like I'm running low on oil (or possibly a lifter tap...) that goes away usually after about 50 yards, or when the car warms up a bit. So far I don't have any steady cause. It can be freezing out, warmish out, dry, wet, car rested for over 24 hours, it's only been 15 minutes since I last started it... I checked the oil (after buying some) to find out, I'm good on oil. I did notice that a wheel that a belt attaches too seems slightly loose, but I would think that would cause a more perminant and constant ticking sound. Does anyone have any ideas? Anything I should try that would narrow the tick down? I hope it's not a lifter tap >.<
unstablementaly Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 92 wagon? your car doesn't require oil. just make sure you never overheat it! my vBGarage
ogre840 Posted February 24, 2007 Author Posted February 24, 2007 Ah crap... (radiator blew about 5 minutes from my house when I first got it... I aint paying for a tow truck ^_^)

ogre840 Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 No, this was a while ago (back in December) and the car runs fine. The occasional random inconsistency with idle or random shimmy while driving, but nothing too alarming... just the random tick that's driving me nuts (well the other completely and utterly random noises drive me nuts too, but those are usually 1 time deals...)
B2.5GT Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 The ticking noice is normal for the subaru to do, that's just how they are decine, so inless the motor is out of oil you should be fine.
ogre840 Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 Excellent, good to hear! I was only mildy worried since it wasn't constant, and really unpredictable. Now to get my darn hub...
