Edgemar Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Anyone heard of these guys in Santa Clarita? http://www.yimisport.com/ Do they Protune Legacys? Thx!
Hanger Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Yup! Many of the Legacy guys goes there, we had a dyno day there as well, good guys! ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○
itsme Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I was there on monday the 19th. I was getting a custom TBE installed. While I was there I saw about 5 WRX and STI getting dyno tuned by Tim from PDX. They were puting down some great numbers. They look to be mostly a EVO shop. But are also getting in to Subies. Check with Tim at PDX to see when he is going to be back down here. From what he said he will come down once a month to do tunes. I think I will get him to tune my car once I put on my FMIC. Rommel Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Paul Yim is a cool guy. He installed my turbo and TMIC.

Tim tuned my car over at Yimi's last December.
Edgemar Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 Do they know Subaru's or should I wait for Tim from PDX to come down for a tune?
Boostjunkie Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I responded to your PM about the same subject, but while Paul Yim himself is more familiar with Evos, he has a tuner who specializes in Subarus. They are good folks up at Yimi, they will take good care of you and your car.

Hey Bryan, I know that the catback took waaaay longer that you or the shop might have liked, but did it come out nice? I haven't talked to Paul Yim in a couple of days, did you give him the money for the parts already or are we taking care of that separately?
itsme Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Yes, everything turned out great. I gave all the money to Paul and told him to take care of you per your PM. They had alot of cars to tune. And when you get a good deal can you really complain about how long it takes? But, they were cool and that was my first time seeing people getting dyno tuned. It was a blast. The funny part was the people that thought they had the stongest car with JDM stuff and stickers and they made less power then the sleepers. Here's picture of the pictures of the setup. I had them run the 3" from my Crucial shorty back and I added a 3" hi flow cat. Racer X FMIC for '05-'09 LGTs, '08+ WRX and '10+ LGT,'14+ FXT, and '15+ WRX TMIC Racerxengineering.com
Rommel Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Bryan I agree with you on that. There was this WRX with all stock parts, the only mod that he has was a gutted UP and DP but his car was pulling like 265 awhp.
Boostjunkie Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Like Dave's (Urfsin's) too, MR up and gutted stock DP... 300+ lb/ft of torque... can't complain about that. Now my car now has just about every conceivable bolt-on... and it probably won't do crap for power
Boostjunkie Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Holy crap Bryan, I can see why it took so long, Eric must have been sitting at the bench TIGing for DAYS! That is a lot of welds.
itsme Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I know. I got there at 9am and left at 6pm. I gave him a $20 tip. I didn't have any more on me. Racer X FMIC for '05-'09 LGTs, '08+ WRX and '10+ LGT,'14+ FXT, and '15+ WRX TMIC Racerxengineering.com
Edgemar Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 Boost- Thanks for the advice and PM...I'm slowly getting my stuff together. I've received my AutoSpeed DP and am searching for a STI UP, AP and TMIC. I'll be sure to post my experiences once I get my car tuned.

I think he responded to your email while I was there. I believe you also asked about having some parts installed. They do quality work and their labor rates are VERY fair, and this is coming from a guy who does all his own work.

I called Paul (i think) yesterday. He quoted me 1K for an AP with a tune...fair deal. $400 for the tune if I came with my own AP. 1/2 the fun of owning the car is doing the work yourself. Why let my days of researching my mods and install on this board go to waste... Though I might send out the call for help if I get in trouble. Boost - do i get a discount on MR products installed there?
Boostjunkie Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Whoops! Maybe that was another local LGT owner who emailed Paul. The $1K price for an AP with a Protune is a nice deal. Just let me know if you want any MR parts and I'll see if Yimi will hook you up a deal on the install.
