I have some clutch shudder in my 07 LGT 5MT. Has about 2400 miles on it so far. This only happens about 50% of the time in 1st from a start and is more noticeable when going up a hill. ANybody have this problem?

I'm thinking I may have burnt my clutch a little from being stuck in the snow last week. Quite a but of smoke came from the engine bay. I don't think it studdered before but I really can't remember.

Are you absolutely sure it was smoke coming out of your hood and not steam?

I do get a little bit of clutch shudder - it's very intermittent and yes it only happens from a dead start. I have almost 700 miles on my car. I do not know if it's normal.

Pretty sure it was smoke because it really stunk like burnt rubber.

Thats the clutch...if you are getting a chattering when the clutch is engaging chances are this is the cause.

I had a similar chatter issue after my clutch was replaced under warranty. When I brought my car in for the noise issue they ended up replacing the whole thing again.

Good luck, LGT clutches are like moody women.

Northeast, cold and somewhat damp now. Hope I didn't destory the clutch as the car stunk for days after all the slipping I did to get out of my garage and driveway.

I've had issues with the clutch and everyone basically says the same thing. Try to keep the RPMs under 1,000 and 1,500 when slipping the clutch in 1st gear on level ground. Of course going up an incline probably under 2K. With practice I could get the car moving around 500 - 1,000 RPMs. This is the only manual transmittion car where 1st gear is like performing surgery. One bad move and you could kill or cause serious harm to the patient.
I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.:p

This was a vey common problem with the Imprezas around 2002, 2003...check with your dealer....usually worst when it is cold in the morning....Does it go away when the car is hot?
