Not sure if anyone here browses the New Member Threads, but I figured I'd drop by and say "Hey." I moved out to Colorado in 2005 and will be here for another couple of years. I am having a hard time deciding on what car I want to purchase this summer and joined up on this board to learn more about the LGT and it's potential.

If you guys/gals have any questions, feel free to fire away. I won't be driving again until the summer, but maybe I'll see some of you guys around (anyone local to Colorado Springs?).

Matt-

EDIT

Also, if anyone could let me know how the LGT and Spec B handle up in the mountains, I would greatly appreciate it. I am a pretty avid rider and sometimes find myself chasing backcountry.

Welcome!

You cant go wrong with the LGT (or any Subie for that matter - i'm on my 3rd). The LGT performs awesome in the mountains. When I had my LGT, I was able to have it in 5th with the cruise set on 75, and it had no problems going up the hills with ease.

Good Luck and if you havent checked it out allready, the majority of Subie drivers hang out over at http://www.awdpirates.net/phpBB2/index.php

Thanks, Ben.

I concur. The LGT does great in the mountains. I often take the "back way" from the springs up to Breck, I even took that way up DURING our blizzard just before new years. The legacy has taken everything I have handed it in stride. (though I wouldnt recommend taking 24 in the middle of a blizzard)

Welcome! Avitar looks military. Where are you stationed? I am an LGT fan, a bit better ride and more refinement, but there's not enough that can be said about an STI's raw stock performance. Either way, they are great in the mountains. There'll be an AWD meet on 03/25 at Red Rocks. Several Springs members will be going. Maybe you can hitch a ride with one of them and find out how a Sooby does in the mountains first hand.

Thanks for the heads up! As far as duty station is concerned: I am actually at the Air Force Academy right now. I know there is some bad press going around, so if you want the real scoop let me know and I'll attempt to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

To everyone else, thanks for the welcome! Still trying to figure out what I want, but rest assured - it will be a Subaru.

Go with an LGT! I've had mine for 4 months now... Great all around car. The Spec B has a better suspension, but that's about it for performance. You can always add a nice set of coilovers that outperform the Spec B for less than the cost of upgrading to a Spec B.

My favorite thing about my LGT: Nobody knows what the hell it is. I'm stage 2 now and I'm spanking modded EVO's and STi's and they are very confused.

I love STi's, but they stand out and everybody knows about them. LGT's have more interior space, they can perform just as well, yet they don't stick out.

I love snowy days witht this damn car. It's so easy to control if you want to cruise sideways...

Go Kadets! Bad press happens, but the academies have produces some of the country's best leaders. Thank you for your service. I actually went to Air academy high School, so I am quite familiar with that area, and there are a few other LGT members who are a part of the USAFA community.

My vote is LGT, as they are both awesome cars, but an LGT is a car you can grow up into. I say that meaning it can be a fun car, but also mature, where an STI will always be a 'Fast and Furious' street racer. Either way, they'll be tons of fun!
