c-lo Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 My mom is starting her search for a used SUV. likes the look of the lexus and BMW. suggested she expand her search to the honda pilot and infiniti. not sure her price range yet, she's meeting with her accountant this week. Input? I'm steering her towards a lexus or honda. 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
PGT Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 The BMW is fun but pricey and problematic, while the Lexus is boring and troublefree. Stop by my place and we'll take the FX for a spin...it splits the difference a Honda Pilot is a safe choice no matter what

rkl303 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Odds are though your car might not be big enough one day, and would you want to borrow a FX or a Lexus.

SLegacy99 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 My mom enjoys the RX series, but youll want a 330 or higher if anything. Theyre faster and more efficient. She just got rid of her 300 because it had some expensive repairs. Currently enjoying the RX400h.

Well she can get my mom's 1999 RX300 for $13,000 at Lexus of Wilmington, but it needs $2000 worth of suspension work. But its got a new starter...and 85,000 miles

c-lo Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 WEll she test drove an '04 Lexus RX 350? She didn't pay attention to which model it was, but she really loved it, especially the interior and the comfort of the seats. Turns out she's going to buy a new one. looking at this: http://www.lexus.com/models/RX/features/pricing.html She def wants the AWD. Not sure what package she wants yet. 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
PGT Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 hard to fault anything Lexus....they are exceptional, yet soul-less cars. As long as you know that going in, you'll be fine. My wife really wanted the new RX350 but after seeing the interior and funky dash, she hated it.
PhiTauFord Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 My Mom, just turned 60, loes her Lexus RX. She's had several over the years (this is her 3rd . . . she leases) and wouldn't have anything else. For the most part they've all been trouble free (again leases so we're not talking high milage).

My wife really wanted the new RX350 but after seeing the interior and funky dash, she hated it. big thing for her was comfort. has some back/hip issues that could never be resolved in the explorer. soul-less yes, but to her it's got four wheels, leather and bells and whistles. that's all she cares about at her age:icon_wink 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos

SLegacy99 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 she used to have a mazda. she's sold on the lexus!! Definately the right choice. My parents both love Lexus. You know what I like? RX300 = 220 hp, 222 ft lbs of torque 18 city, 22 hwy ~ slow! RX330 = 230 hp, 242 ft lbs of torque 18 city, 24 hwy ~ Lil better and with a 5 speed RX350 = 270 hp, 251 ft lbs of torque 19 city, 24 hwy ~ Much faster and like I said, my mom loves her 400h. More speed, better gas mileage, I love it. Imagine if they had a 6 speed auto instead.
c-lo Posted February 24, 2007 Author Posted February 24, 2007 well, she did it! My mom bought an '07 Lexus RX 350 AWD with Nav. Black with a tan interior. She's pretty flippin excited. first new car since 1988. she bought an '88 Mazda MX-6 back then when if first came out. Pohanka Lexus gave her $5300 for her 2000 Ford Explorer with 60k on it. I get to drive it on sunday:icon_bigg 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
