SureGrap
I've been very disapointed with the 'range' of the headlights in my '08...on a flat road, the low beams do fine and project a good distance down the road, but if I go down a slight hill and the road slopes up, it seems like I can't see more than 10' in front of myself beacuse of the cutoff on the top of the beams. It's scary on a back road when you go down a dip in the road and have to go up a hill but you can't see whats on the road higher than your hood. This car is all stock, but I might have to check to see if the beams are up far enough.
MiniStiGuy
this is an issue with projected lights that don't have the capability of self adjusting on an auto leveling system. Our lights have a hard set level and a sharp cutoff so unfortunately your problem will never go away and aiming them higher to see over dips also results in them being high on flat ground and blinding on coming traffic. The only way you can get around your problem is to just turn your brights on as there beam is at an upward angle and will help when going down hills. 05GTWAGONLIMITED
I installed my 5000k extreme kit on Friday night and I'm in love with them. I want to make sure the headlights are aimed correctly. I took a picture last night with mu phone so the quality is not great, but you get the idea. I took the picture with me in the car so you can see what I see. Any help would be very greatful. http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs091.snc1/5106_551143038174_40301268_32876376_1801497_n.jpg
MiniStiGuy
that is shot a little to close. Can you get one with the car back about 30 feet from the wall. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro

05GTWAGONLIMITED
Ok, here is a picture from 30 feet away. They seem to be a little low? Let me know what you think. http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs091.snc1/5106_551209255474_40301268_32880295_1881932_n.jpg
MiniStiGuy
well low depends on the height of your car. Here's an easy way to tell though. Measure from the ground up to the center of your projector. now subtract 2 inchs and put a mark on a wall. Back up aboug 25 feet and the lower part of the headlamp's projection should be at that mark. If its lower then adjust it up to the mark. Your lights look fine though. Make sure the bulbs are sitting flat inside the projectors and secured good and then give them an aim and you'll be good to go! jimlatro
so I decided to just go and do it for you guys to get it over with. 2008 Legacy Headlamps Sorry for the crappy mspaint edit but I didn't have time to do a nice one. Here you see both bolts but the horizontal one is covered up by a cover. You can either remove the cover all together or just pry it back and use a phillips screwdriver to adjust it. I personally remove the covers because they are dumb for being there in the first place. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/08%20headlight/IMG_0922.jpg Pry the cover off http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/08%20headlight/IMG_0924.jpg and here's what it looks like with all the covers off. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/08%20headlight/IMG_0925.jpg Thanks for your Fantastic walk thru and all your posts! iahtnoob
HID kit in stock projectors with the "squirrel finder" gap blocked and two washer mod: Are there any issues MiniStiGuy? http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm92/iahtnoob/SL733346.jpg(About 25 feet back with camera flash) http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm92/iahtnoob/SL733347.jpg(Same as above but without camera flash) http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm92/iahtnoob/SL733348.jpg(closer up)
MiniStiGuy
the first pic shows that your beams are not even with one another. What distance was that taken at? The others appear fine and the 3rd one is a great pic to show how a kit puts the return wires on the bulbs in the wrong position so you get that black shadow in the spread of the beam. Follow the guide to line up the lower sections with one another so its _/ _/ and not uneven like the first pic shows. HIT_MAN
This seems very tedious. I order a 4300K H7 kit from diode dynamics today. Can't wait to have the aggravation.
akscooby
Once you see the output difference you'll love the aggravation.... I sold my car and got a Yukon Denali. I SOOO miss my HID's. The OEM lights in my truck suck. But, it has projector lows, so they will be upgraded as soon as I can afford it. Get some HIR's for the high beams, by the way. They are very impressive. MiniStiGuy
its the same thing. These are all DOT spec's so if you run a reflective halogen setup it is basically the same thing except for the fact that you obviously don't have a lower or upper cutoff. Make the headlamp line up 1/2 way through the horizontal line that we use for the low beam. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
veritas
I am late to this party and will try to post some pics, but my 08 LGT got backed into and had some front end damage. The headlights were saved but they appear to be out of whack (Maybe from them taking them on and off so many times to align the bumper?). I was driving upstate on dark tree lined roads and the top edge of the beam where it ends and the darkness begins seems like it's going straight across my windshield? Not sure i'm describing it properly but if I throw my highs on i can still see the line the seperates my regular lights from my highs. I took it to Subaru figuring they would align them for me but to my dismay they told me they were fine. I do have aftermarket eyelids on the car from R-Rev but can't see that causing the line. Should the line be right in my field of vision?
