bkenn36
So, it took me about 5 hours to get home tonight because of the snow in Colorado. However, this was only because of the traffic. Let me tell you, this car got me through everything. We already have 20" of snow on my street. I am very happy to have this car, got through it all, even with the stock tires. Can't be happier. rabydanimal
My WRX sliced through snow that came up 3 inches above the bottom of the bumper with P-Zero Nero M+S all seasons (AWESOME tire BTW) . Oh, I can't wait for snow. I really, really hate global warming.
rabydanimal
BTW, I don't get why people put snows on their Subarus. If you're getting that much snow you should really have something with more ground clearance. Really good all seasons get me through everything. LordJim
I remember some pretty serious snow last year. The snow was 18 or so inches that day and I didn't want to dig out the car. Instead, I dug a path to the car (can't be gettin' all that snow in my shoes, ya know), hopped in, and drove. I was amazed. Absolutely amazed. The roads were crap and the car the didn't care. - Jim
DukeTrout
BTW, I don't get why people put snows on their Subarus. If you're getting that much snow you should really have something with more group clearance. Really good all seasons get me through everything. There are very few vehicles that come stock with the usable ground clearance of the Outback. Even going into very expensive luxury SUVs, you can count on one hand the vehicles that have 9+" of ground clearance from in inside of one wheel across to the other. And some of us have to deal with ice. That's where the studded tires come into play. Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt! If you're getting that much snow you should really have something with more group clearance. Really good all seasons get me through everything. I put snows on my Legacy because the summer tires are more dangerous than a 6 year old boy with a loaded gun. Same was with my STi, though moreso with the shorter Impreza wheelbase, and the more aggressive RE-070's on there. You really couldn't do a damn thing in even a dusting. edit: also, just because you get snow tires doesn't mean you need tons of ground clearance. Balchinator
yeah i got home fine with my 95 legacy however i went to leave this morning and im like a beeched whale in the parking lot, snow tires might help but with this much heavy snow a jeep with 2 feet of GC would pretty nice

CreoSTi
BTW, I don't get why people put snows on their Subarus. It's called "control." Sure I could have just gotten by on all seasons over an Erie, PA winter (my fiance did just fine with all seasons on her Civic), but that's not the point... I didn't want to "just get by," I wanted as much control/traction as possible to keep my car on the road. So, I chose a set of Dunlop Wintersport M2s. I even have a friend with an Evo who used studded Hakka2s during the winter months in Erie. Plus, why should I subject myself to tires that are merely adequate in all conditions when I could have dedicated snow tires in the winter, and high performance summer tires for the rest of the year? Also, like DukeTrout mentioned, you're only making the case for snow (in terms of your ground clearance comment) when ice handling/traction is also important. Dedicated snow tires do better on ice than all seasons. -Mike-
