Split Window Seal

You can replace the torn "gusset" piece, and make sure the window is adjusted properly. Looks like it was going too far up and stressing the gusset seal. The gusset piece costs about $40-50. I replaced the one on my wife's Forester (wind noise) and it was pretty simple: http://members.cox.net/craig.hunter/gusset/ CRaig

My '05 is fine...

You should have it replaced under warranty. The gusset on my Forester was torn (from an unskilled window tinter) and the result was wind noise from that area. Craig makes it sound easy, but to replace it by yourself would require taking apart the door. Ken
Wonder if they are going to blame it on the tinter...
I had that thought too, but mine wasn't split after the tinter was done with it because I went over the whole car with a fine tooth comb to check how the film was laid down on the edges. Of course, I can't prove that and I suppose it's possible that the tinter "stressed" it somehow so that it later split.
