GenXr
I'm getting a CEL P0136 on my way home from work in the same spot 2days in a row. I've already changed both O2 sensors a few weeks ago and it's been fine. Is it possible that I need a CAT?
dplacen
You should check the mass air flow sensor.
GenXr
Wouldn't that effect the first O2 more than the second? This is a malfunction of the second O2 sensor. From what I've been reading the second O2 sensor just tells you if the cat is working or not and if it's not I should be getting a p0420 code. I have check to see if one of the wires might have gotten chaffed. I will check the mass airflow and possibly clean it anyway.
johnAWD
The 2nd sensor is there to monitor the health of the cat converter. Either use a sensor stand-off, get the electronic fix, or have one of the aftermarket tuners 'tune it out' (ignore the error code). So, if you are running a somewhat stock config w/o any downpipe cats... How long ago did you remove the cat(s)?
GenXr
It has the cat. From what I've read it appears that p0136 has nothing to do with the cat it's self, but rather the O2 sensor not working. I haven't had time crawl under the car yet, so it may just be a wire rubbed through.
