Wow our snow storm just hit! It was a very nice day here... I was wearing shorts and flip flops all day. This just kind of rolled up out of nowhere. Here is a pre-storm pic!

that is loveland pass about an hour from vail, just off i-70. not bad for backcountry, there is also berthoud pass, it is closer to winter park. both are pretty cool cause you can ski down and hitch back up. i'd still make sure you have avi gear, i never hit the backcountry without a beacon, shovel and probe.

there is also the minturn mile and a lot of hiking off of vail. should be plenty to keep you busy.

Yeah I'm gonna pick up a beacon and a probe when I get out there. I should have picked one up last year when I was in Jackson Hole, but alas I was an idiot and didnt. I cant wait to test out my new skiis and AT bindings. Last year in the JH backcountry sucked without AT's

JDM'd All to hell

Thanks Jimmy @ Hkc-Speed.com!

RIP Coxx & Thanks

I drove up to Steamboat from Denver for work a couple of years ago in September. Got hit with a blizzard in Berthoud Pass. Good thing I insisted on an OB rental car! Too bad it was just a 2.5i, but it handled the snow at Berthoud and again dropping back down into Steamboat with ease. Caught a few nice browns on the upper Colorado along the way, too.
