jbm
I was driving in to work the other day, following a slow moving car when he ran over a pile of what appeared to be broken tempered glass throwing quite a bit up onto my bumper/hood. I was saddened to find that one piece had hit my hood halfway up to the scoop and carved into the aluminum. It chipped off the paint and primer and there is a raised ridge of sharp aluminum at the back of the chip. Has anyone had any experience getting something like that repaired, or have you experienced similar damage? I'm wondering if it will require slight grinding to smooth the spot out? It kind of precludes simple touch up paint.
Andyjo
Usually one wouldnt use a grinding wheel/angle grinder on aluminum, it'll gum up the disc way to fast. I've used a flap disc on AL before, with pretty nice results... be sure when you do it though, to get some paint on there relitivly quickly, so the AL doesn't oxidize... and your paint won't stick, i hate it when i get dings in the hood....
