Guest *Jedimaster*
And it took about 3 hours, start to finish, thanks to the excellent instructions by "thatguyeric". Here's some pix as I went along, just in case there's any difference in the Outback and the Legacy. 05LegacyGT330Ci
I like what you did with the debadging, I'm really considering getting rid of all the badges on the rear for myself. What did you use to remove them, hairdryer? I love the cleared look I want this look but I don't trust myself doing all what is involved, I can't cook food in an oven so I definatley don't trust myself with my headlights. c_hunter
Nice Rotas! Got a pic of the whole car showing the wheels? Craig
agctr
Unsure about anyone else but I have to admit that I cringe when I see a car apart like that. Dont think I could ever do that as I would be worried about getting it all back in one piece. I have to admit JEDI, that job looks great and looks like your leaf catcher is working a treat too. Well done and thanks for the pics, they really do help. Adam.
Guest *Jedimaster*
Thanks guys- c_hunter- here's a thread with lots of pix: http://www.legacygt.com/viewtopic.php?t=2975 I used dental floss to remove the badge- didn't need a hair dryer, as it was pretty warm today. Rolled the residual glue off, used some goo-gone, then waxed.
Xenonk
good thought on the grille for the IC.. did you use some kind of fastners? On my old WRX, I took the airsplitter and put the screen mesh between the hood and the air splitter. Keefe Keefe

Helfrick
Looks real nice. Is that the shake and bake mod? Man, I just got the seat belt chime disabled and it looks like I'm going to have to add one more to my to do list.
Rexmobbin
jeez, do you really have to take off the bumper to get to the lights? the WRX is so much easier. that bites, because the clear headlight mod is a must-do as far as i'm concerned. that looks like a lotta work. looks damm good though, props

In which case switching in a JDM bumper would actually be relatively easy. I think that the JDM beam is much straighter than ours, based on the pictures that I found of cutaways. BTW, Paul, I was also looking at the wagon cutaway on your site. BUT, it could be that, by removing our foam, we might still have a shot for an easy swap. I don't necessarily mind the added cost/complication of a JDM beam, but I'd like to avoid any "insurance hassels" in case of an accident. I've tried to infer from photos how much the forward-most point of the JDM beam sticks out from the center support (in front of radiator), but it's hard to estimate with camera position, distance, etc. I wonder if an easy way to compare dimensions of the two markets (without side-by-side cars) would be to run a string from that center support to several points along the beam and record the lengths of the string. If you get good data, I might pull my bumper and do the same. Any repeatable method would work, though. I guess you'd have to see what's in the way of string, etc. I'm clueless about the rear bumper. So, you'll know something by Tuesday then? Nolan
CombatCQB
This is going to be my next project after I finish installing my sub. The only thing is that I've installed the 3M headlight protection film on my headlights already, so I'm going to have to protect those in the oven before baking I think. Definitly interested in the JDM bumper pics. don't mind so much the rear bumper.
Guest *Jedimaster*
For anyone who thinks that removing the bumper is a big deal, it's not- it's only held on by some of Subaru's famous "pop-it" attachments. I think there were about 8 on the front and side, then one additional each side holding it on by the wheel well.
kanoswrx
Lools sweet. I don't know if I have the skills to do that myself, but its such a great mod. I wonder, how much do new headlights cost incase you mess up. I think I might try to do one at a time.
Guest *Jedimaster*
I did one at a time, only cuz the oven wouldn't fit both. I'm sure the lights are expensive. But as long as you keep an eye on them, you'll be fine. They probably get close to as hot as the oven makes them on a summer day in direct sunlight. Rexmobbin
were there any popits inside the fender, under the wheel well? there were on the WRX, and those were the WORST to pop off.
