hutru01
Hey guys, I got my Legacy tinted 20% all around and I got a ticket like two days afterwards... :-) BTW, I live in the VA (it sucks living in a commonwealth) Is anyone familiar with going to the doctor to get a doctor's note for this sort of thing? Or should I just go back and get the front driver and passenger done 35%???
Abandonhope16
I don't think the doctor note is as easy as it seems, unless you really do require it. Even if you you get the front re-done at 35% it is still illegal, maybe just a little less noticeable. You are allowed to have 50% up front and 35% in the rear. I've had 35% all around on my old car and never ran into any problems, but I think the 20% in the back could cause some future grief for you. SSN666
I'm in VA and had my wagon done at 50 front doors, 35 rear doors, 20 all rear windows. Have had no problems.
one69chev
i'm in va as well; in order to get a dr's note, you have to have proof of a sensitivty to light that will hold up in court. this type of excemption is very rare, i only know of 1 case which is on chincoteague. that guy has 5% and had to get all the bright trim on his car painted flat black. sounds like it's time to bite the bullet and go legal......i went to va beach and got 35% all the way around. i have a state inspection license and according to the troopers that i talk with, they will change the legal tint % in the future, but the trooper didn't know if they were going to raise it or lower it; his advice to me was to get as dark as i wanted, but said that if the fuzz could see inside the car, via 35 or 50%, i would be less likely to be pulled over.......good luck to ya...... hutru01
So should I just switch the front windows to 35% or the both the front and back windows? The back is gonna stay 20% though.....the thing is that I see factory tints that are just as dark on other cars but they don't have any tint in the front..... SubLo
At least you guys get 50% upfront. In NY, you are only allowed 70% in front This is correct but a little misleading. What it means is that you can get away with what is commonly referred to as "30%" tint in NY. HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN NEW YORK? http://www.tintcenter.com/img/clear.gif Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In New York, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in. Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in. Rear Window Any darkness can be used. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
