CiViCKiDD
I'm looking to get out of my 99 Civic EX and into a Legacy 2.5i SE in the near future...but i'm reading that the 0-60 of the N/A version is over 10 seconds? Seriously? I just wanted to confirm this...I think even my stock 126hp Civic is faster than that... http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?year=2006&make=Subaru&model=Legacy&trimid=-
rallispec
I think it's more like mid 9 seconds... Not as a fast car - between the weight of the car and the AWD drivetrain loss.
HansGT
save up for the GT and enjoy low 5's.
Paul G.
My wife had a 1998 Civic EX and a 2000 Civic Si. My 2005 Legacy 2.5i wagon feels noticeably faster than the EX and about the same as the (supposedly fast) Si. The EX needed to be downshifted for small hills, the Legacy does not. The Si made no (none, zero, nada) power below 4000 RPM. All equipped with 5-speed manuals. P.
Beanboy
Feels fast because of the torque, and nicer for daily driving. Also why you don't need to downshift. Numbers-wise though, a 2K Si will be faster across the board. Well, maybe not 0-30, hehe. Bet the EX would be close in full-on racing situation in terms of acceleration to boot. -B http://www.standardshift.com
rallispec
the 2.5 liter engine in the subaru probably does make it feel a bit torquier down low than the honda. i drove a 2.5i loaner and it was better than expected, but still slow.
Paul G.
The Si was supposed to be a 7 second car. It could go, but never felt fast. Yes the tach swept quickly from 4000-8000 rpm, but driving like that is not pleasant. It also had the same turning circle as a Freightliner. My wife traded up to a WRX wagon. It's supposed to be a 6 second car. It can pop your eyeballs into your ear sockets, is responsive and quick, stops and turns on a dime. Drive it like an econobox and it is one, but seething under the surface is hotness just waiting for a nudge. My 2.5i wagon is a torquey, pleasant driver. It can pull hard in the first 3 gears, and doesn't feel as slow as the numbers would indicate. It climbs hills, even heavily loaded with no problems. P. Guest
I test drove a 2.5i yesterday. Mind you I didn't push it, but it was like barely moving after driving LGT.

Guest
Not fast. Confirmed. In fact slower than my 98 2.4L 150hp Altima. Weight + AWD hog it. I was about to buy a 2.5i for my wife, but I now I think I'll buy her a GT...

Paul G.
I don't think he was asking if the NA is a "fast" car, I think he wanted to know if it is an annoyingly pokey car, which it isn't. P.
