silverfool
i don't get to wash my car as much as i want to, and i've noticed some of my neighbors have a mobile detailer come to their house and wash their cars. of course their cars have fancy horses on the emblem but hey, my juiced up camry deserves some love too. their detailer left me a flyer and so i checked it out-Perfect Shine Auto Detailinglooks like they use a pressure washer on the exterior paint and i know a few guys here have claimed our crappy paint can handle high pressure about as well as tom cruise can handle the truth- so what do you guys think? do this or trust the local "hands only" wash places, where i have to gamble on how clean the towels are. me washing the car is not an option. SQC049
When I don't do it myself I go to a full brush-less place. They do a great job on it. I'm not sure about pressure washing, I have friend who details and he uses a pressure washer also. He has never done my car. P.S. This should be in the detailing/maintenance section, not here. Super JDM part out: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65039 PM me an offer!
Guest *Jedimaster*
This is the only car in years that I've never taken to the car wash- I simply don't trust any of them on our paint. My old black WRX wagon was so full of swirls that never came out it was pitiful.
Speedracerx
As long as you don't place the nozzle too close to the car it should be OK(read: if you know what you're doing). I don't like using them because you can end up lifting trim parts, damaging weatherstripping and forcing dirt, etc. into nooks and crannies where it is hard to get out. Aim the nozzle close to a piece of paper and pull the trigger, see what can happen. But, for cleaning the undercarriage it's great!
420
The only pressure washing I see is to wheels, engine, etc. No mention of pressure washing painted surfaces. Talk to your neighbor (do people do that in SoCal? ) and ask them what they think of the service.
pillboy
But, for cleaning the undercarriage it's great! I thought so too until I stripped the undercoating off. It is still ugly.
The B4
I have seen a pressure washer blast paint off the front bumper on a new car before. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
