WRXGuyInVegas
I'm curious if everybody else with a stock LGT is having the same sort of strange torque curve that I'm experiencing... Now, mind you this is all "ass dyno" observations, but it's definetly there... When going WOT, especially in 1st gear, it seems it has great torque up until about 5K RPM... now I know this is where the torque curve starts to flatten and go down. BUT.... If I stay in the throttle, it seems like I get a burst of energy at 6K RPM to 6500 RPM... So its like this: Laaaagg.... FAAST!!... Slower... FAST AGAIN!! Anybody else notice this, or is my car special? "Insert Signature Here"
-TT-
lesson: i need to read more carefully stock cars can feel somewhat prone to little power "surges" in the rev band but if its a serious bucking feeling like the power is there one instant and then stops, the car could be pulling timing (which is abnormal)

Highlighted for your reading enjoyment!!! Sorry... I mis-read things a lot, too! "Insert Signature Here"
-TT-
a boost gauge or some datalogging should let you know if all is well and its just the normal feel of the car or if its pulling timing or leaking(boost). but it sounds somewhat normal, i think. TravisS
Sounds normal to me... or at least, that's what my car does too.In fact, looking at the AEM provided dyno shows a bit of a HP plateau from roughly 5200 RPM to 5700 RPM after which point is start to pick back up again and eventually peak. This, combined with the decreasing torque, would certainly cause a "dead spot" in the motor.

TravisS
I wish I knew from personal experience, but it may be a while 'till I get my AP (gonna give $$$ to my wife for her to help buy a car, then after that). Cobb's dyno chart they provide kinda sucks, I really like the way AEM does it, but here's theres: http://cobbtuning.com/legacy/images/ap-lgt-stage1.gif It doesn't look to promising for high RPM pull. The engine peaks earlier (5400 RPM rather then 6000) and it's just downhill from there. Not as though this is a bad thing since there's still considerably more power up north then there is with stock, so you probably wouldn't notice it as much... again, I wish I knew this first hand Again, you see this with TDC's project car as well: http://www.tdctuning.com/projects/tdctuning2005legacygttdcprojectcar/headers.jpgA HP peak at an even earlier 5250 RPM with declining power after. This, I'm assuming, is the small turbo's fault? And the only reason we actually see power to 6000 RPM at stock is because of "incomplete" tuning at lower RPMs, particularly around 5300 RPM where the car should be making peak power?
