iuksob03
Had a friend tell me he's been wetting down the front of his car and using dryer sheets to pull the bugs off the bumper. Is this safe? I'm leaning towards no just because of the texture of the sheet rubbing against the paint.

Guest *Jedimaster*
Spray some WD40 on there and let it soak- makes things much easier- and if you're gonna be driving through a buggy area, spray the front of the car (NOT the windshield) with WD40 and things will be easier. itzed
Jedi, do you advocate the use of anal lube to keep the back bumper free of dirt and road grime thrown up in the rain? and a very thin layer of KY Jelly on the front....
ilh
I use clay on the few bugs I can't get off with (car wash) soap. It takes them right off.
PGT
dryer sheets are used to keep live bugs away. Like.....stick it in the stroller with your toddler to keep mosquitos away without having to use a strong bug spray which might be bad for the kid. Dryer sheet to remove dead bugs?? someone got their 'Hints From Heloise' mixed up.

blackheart
I've done it on my fiberglass motorhome. It does work, but it's still a lot of rubbing.

I advocate the use of anal lube with anything at any time- it never hurts. Helps prevent pink sock syndrome too, or so I hear
OCDetails
Is this guy living in some amish colony or something? I'm all for home remedies, but c'mon... just get some bug remover or use the mesh backing on a wash mitt to scrub bugs off. No need to get exotic by using a dryer sheet. IMO that is a little more coarse than what I would rub on my car, but that's just me. Use a little Eagle One Bucketless Wash to presoak the bugs and they'll wash right off with maybe a little extra elbow grease. A better solution would be to not let them sit on your bumper so long that you have to find a mild enough grit sand paper to get them off with. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . pillboy
it never hurts That would be because of the lube. It is still ugly.

bosco
take wet towels and cover the offending area, keep them wet, remove towels in about 30 min. (could take longer depending on bug concentration), wash as normal bugs should be easy to remove. bosco Stay Stock Stay Happy
subie_dude05
i have used some horrible stuff in past years, but something i found to work and havent been able to find since i ran out is a bug and tar remover made by GUNK. the company who makes the engine degreaser...etc. it had to presoak and then wiped off with a wet rag before you wash the car but it did a great job. schwinn
I recently used TurtleWax Bug and Tar remover. Goes on like a creamy solution, and really took the tar marks off the car. They say it leaves a "protective coating" or some such, but I don't buy that part... at least it took the tar off VERY easily.
