autoxdad
I am getting ready to do some mods to my car. I have done the whole exhaust and have ION springs. I am thinking about getting an Access port and either Bilstein struts or going with the Tein Flex. Has anybody gone with either of these on a 05 Legacy GT. I really enjoy autocrossing it but also have to keep it wife friendly since it is the family car for driving. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave
forestir
A recent Car&Driver magazine had a little test sidebar where they tried to create a Spec.B equivalent using Teins and Kumho tires. They claimed it was virtually as good as a BMW (which is saying something since C&D are so ga-ga over BMW). You might find quotes of that article searching this site or Googling. Th3Franz
I think Tein Flex ride harsh. Bilsteins would be more wife friendly. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz

Boostjunkie
If someone wants some Tein Flex's I have a slightly used set for sale. If you are looking for something that is good for auto-x use and smoother riding on the street the Megan Racing coilovers are the way to go and a great value (I sell them new for a little more than I'd let the used Flex's go for). If you value a great street ride, but still like to tear it up on the track and you can drop a couple more bucks then the KW Variant 2's are the way to go... which I also happen to offer So really, I got you covered no matter what your price point, intended usage and brand preference might be! RochNY91TSI
I have Teins and I don't mind the ride. It's not as harsh as everyone makes it out to be, but then again that's all subjective. I've never gotten a complaint from my parents or GF, when driving them around. IIRC, I've got the fronts and backs set to half stiff.

RaceComp Engineering
I'd suggest the KW Variant 2's. Very wife friendly, and yet they will amaze you on the track or auto-x course. Valving is very impressive. Corrosion/rust is not a problem. Here's one review from one of our customers: http://legacygt.com/forums/suspension-brakes/31596-kw-variant-2-coilovers.html?highlight=variant Let us know if you have any questions.... - Andrew 410-579-1501

Thanks, Dave I got Bilstein struts (JDM take-offs) and I love them with my iON springs. Very, very good, and it will pass the wife test, especially if you get JDM Bilsteins off of a GT, or the USDM spec-B Bilsteins. autoxdad
I personally would save up some more and get some thing better Thanks for the info, what type are you talking about and what kind of price range are they? Thanks again Dave
Xenonk
I think once you go to the next level of coilovers (in the $1300 to $1600) range, you'll be happy of what is out there.. You can look towards KWs or KSports, or GPMoto? Keefe

You can look towards KWs or KSports, or GPMoto? How do you put the KSports in the same sentence as KW and GPMoto?!? Price wise the KSports are quite a bit cheaper, and in that lower price range I would go with the Megan Racing coilovers anytime even if I didn't sell them. I happen to really like both the KW's and GPMotos. They each have their strong points, but now it's a pretty easy choice since the GPMoto's have been discontinued. RochNY91TSI
I don't understand what all the tein hating is about around here... They're also in the 1300 dollar price range
Boostjunkie
price range The KSports are right about $1000, just like the Megans. The GPMoto's and KW's are right about $1500. That is not the same price range.
