jackacc
I was talking with another forum member that lowered just the front of his car on JDM Spec B springs, left the back stock, and it evened the car out nicely (dropped about a half inch maybe?) plus tightened it up a bit. I have a 2.5i and he had a GT. Are the struts different? I am thinking about doing this to start out since I figure I can get the springs pretty cheap used. But I may need to buy a set of used GT struts too if my 2.5i struts are going to be to weak. Will I need to upgrade to the GT struts? Again, I am just looking to even out the car, not drop it a whole lot and I don't track the car. Going to put a JDM or a Cusco rear sway on as well. jackacc
Anyone? Are the GT and the 2.5i struts much different that if I put a set of JDM spec B's on them, it would be a huge difference between the 2? jackacc
I wish I could have afforded it when I bought it! I traded in my 04 TSX to lower my car payments, otherwise my hood would have a little scoop in it I might have to buy a set of GT struts along with the JDM SpecB springs just to be sure. I just read somewhere that the struts are in fact different. The springs are supposedly the same but the struts are better on the GT. Coilovers... ahh now that would be so nice.... but rims 1st.... trohler
GT struts are not enough of an upgrade over the 2.5i to justify buying. If you want to up grade struts, go with either JDM GT which equals USDM SpecB, or best of all JDM Spec B's. If you interested in starting with just springs, i have a set of JDM SpecB springs for sale in the classifides. Xenonk
spring rates are different between the two cars.. but for fitment questions, yes, they are interchangeable.. but look for aftermarket parts that fit the GT, it's not worth buying OEM-GT parts for your car. A good example is going straight to a coilover setup, just buy a GT-version and put it on your car. The only I have seen that WILL NOT fit on the 2.5i as of date would be the front sway bar and brake pads.. Keefe
Guest
I agree USDM GT suspension is not worth it, but I am wondering if there are any perceptible differences. I am thinking about buying a 2.5i for wifey, and since now I have GT takeoffs laying around, I wonder if they would make any improvement at all. Xenonk
^ then you would have a pseudo 2.5GT? Keefe
AWDDAD
I have a set of H-techs on GT struts I hope to have on my 2.5i next weekend. Think a couple other members have put similar setups on their 2.5i(springs and gt struts) and said it was an improvment. ...when death calls, Im good. I got caller ID. Think a couple other members have put similar setups on their 2.5i(springs and gt struts) and said it was an improvment. guess it all comes down to cost vs. improvement. if it costs (just throwing out a figure here) $1000 to upgrade to the GT set up and you get a 25% increase in the supension vs. $2000 for coilovers and get a 100% increase.....coilovers all the way. HansGT
i believe megan racing has or will soon have a coilover set at a very good price. Under a 1000 I think. Contact Boostjunkie....he's the vendor on here for thier products.
jackacc
I might just put a set of JDB Spec B springs on the front stock 2.5i struts and see how it goes. Either that or maybe a set of H&R's or Tein H Tech I am sure I'll wear out the 2.5i struts fast though. Coilovers would be excellent but I am looking for an inexpensive way to even out the gap, I like the back where it is, I just want the front to sit down a little.
