Cobb Accessport compatibility with SI Drive on 2007 Legacy GT?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've been following this forum anonymously for a while - great stuff - and finally broke down and bought myself an '07 Legacy GT OBP last night. So far I love it! I hated trading in my '04 TSX but the Subie is definitely helping ease my pain.

Anyway, my question is this. Does anyone know if the Cobb Accessport will work with the new SI Drive in the 07 Legacy. Since the SI drive works with three modes, would it be possible to have three separate maps loaded that could be selected with the SI Drive interface? I searched around but couldn't find any other threads about this, nor info at Cobb's website. Anyone have any experience with an '07? And, don't worry, I won't be playing with boost until after my car is properly broken in. Just trying to figure out some things for when it's ready. :)

BTW, if any of you in New England are looking for a new vehicle, I strongly recommend Manchester Subaru in New Hampshire. Not only did I get a killer deal, but they were super knowledgeable, professional, and no-pressure. I'll definitely be going back there when my wife is ready to pick up her Forester.

Thanks.

No one really knows yet as the '07s haven't been on the market long enough.

Your best bet might be to contact Cobb directly and find out what the word is on their testing/development for an AP for the '07.

Also, search around the "Turbo Powertrains" section and see what discussion is lurking over there. If you hear anything from Cobb, please let us know as we're all curious.

Thanks, Brady. I'll check with Cobb directly, but wasn't sure if any of you had first-hand experience. Often times, a manufacturer will not comment on unannounced products, but I'll see what I can find.

Two-Five, the car I got was about $400 over cost, but didn't come with any options. The standard equipment package is pretty good, with just about everything you could want. I actually would have preferred to get the autodimming mirror with homelink as a factory installed option, but they said they only stock the base models to give customers more flexibility. Still, they offered the mirror to me at cost, but because I bought on a Sunday I will have to go back to get it installed. I'm not sure if I will, but they gave me a month to do so.

I was actually pretty surprised they gave me such a sweet deal, especially on an '07. The car was the only one they had and was in the showroom with only 5 miles!!! He said they only had it about a week and the only time it had been driven was when they went to the local station to put some gas in the tank. If any of you go there to buy, ask for Corey. He's a straightforward guy and won't give you the hard sell.

LBV, the SI drive is pretty much just as Subaru advertises, and as other people have mentioned here in the forums. The I mode really cuts back the power so you don't get it so early, nor do you get much of it when it does come. In fact, I have about 200 miles on the car, pretty much all I-mode, and have yet to have the turbo kick in while in I-mode. Granted, I haven't really punched the accelerator very hard and am keeping relatively low RPMs (sub 3k), but I think they should just rename I-mode as "break-in mode." The other two profiles I tried briefly and they also seem to be as subaru claims. The S mode is about the same as what I experienced when I test drove a spec.b in the spring, and the S# gives you a lot of windup really quickly. When I get some more miles on the car I'll give these a better run-through, but I'm trying to break it in gently.

BTW, I have been really impressed with the interior quality of the trim in the '07. Everything seems to be high quality, and the mp3 input jack is a life saver (or it seems like it anyway). The new electroluminecent instrumentation is a big step up over the '06 models too.

Cheers.

Welcome to the site!

Hoe does the instrumentation differ? I thought it was the same as the 06?

I'm no expert on EL instrumentation, but I seem to remember a pretty clear difference between what is on the '07 and what I saw on the '06 spec.b. My tsx had EL gauges and when i test drove the spec.b i remember thinking how much more i liked the tsx panel. i could be imagining things, though. Anyone else confirm whether the '06 has this?

Also, if you look at the pictures on the subaru site for the '06 gt, you'll see that they look different from the ones on the '07 spec.b preview page.

PLEASE. Especially the interior and the gauges you mention ( i don't want to have to use my imagination).

I'll try to take some pics when I get home tonight so you can see them. In the meantime, check out the following link and click on the "intelligent drive" section to see a glimpse of them.

Nice writeup on your 07' Steve!! So is dealer invoice really ~$27k as reported here?

2007 Subaru Legacy Research Page: 2.5i, SE, GT, Limited, spec.B turbo

Legacy GT Limited turbo sedan, manual transmission 7AH $28,295 $625 $28,920 $26,438 $625 $27,063

Does your interior have ALL aluminum trim or mixed w/the dark wood trim?

Also, seeing that you came from a TSX, I would like to send you a PM asking for your pros and cons of the Acura vs. the LGT if I may? Thanks

Yes, invoice including destination is $27,063. The interior trimm is a mixture of aluminum and dark wood, that actually looks really good. I thought it would look cheap, but it actually blends pretty well together. My only complaint is that the "wood" trim of course isn't really wood and has maybe just a little too much shine, but overall i think it's great. The only two places where i have noticed the wood is bordering the center console/stereo and also a small amount toward the forward section of the door trim.

Shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to chat up the TSX with you. All-in-all it was a great ride. Give it 4WD and maybe a little more power and (money permitting) I'd probably have bought a garage full and driven them forever.

The 2007 gauges are more readable due to a different font. The hash marks are spaced differently and there are no longer red rings around the gauges.

Here is a pic of the Spec.B dash. It is the same as in the GT, except for the NAV which is only on the automatic version. You can see the gauges clearly here. The seats, shifter knob, and steering wheel are different too, although obviously these are not part of the dash.

so you're saying you're not going to post pics because only the seat color, seat stitching, shifter knob, steering wheel, cubby area, dash trim, door trim, gas, brake and floor pedals are different?

wow. i think john edward has some competition for biggest $@#&*♂ of the year.

I miss the red rings... those were/are cool.

JDM 07s still have red rings, inset into the gunmetal trim rings around the speedo and tach.... I wonder why SOA decided to kybosh the red rings altogether?

They didn't actually get rid of the rings altogether, they just changed them. You can't tell from the picture, but there is a thin red ring around the gauges that only shows when the dash is illuminated. You also can't see it very well if your viewing angle is too far to the right or left, but they are definitely there and actually look pretty good. If you look at the pic closely you can actually see a faint red ring, but it's hard because of the angle.

So they ARE there, and only light with the headlights... nice touch.

I've seen the JDM versions, with the "alcoved" rings on. I didn't think the USDM got them, as I've not seen a pic of USDM with them on...

I'll *try* to get a picture tonight if i can so you guys can see them better.

Knoxville, relax if I don't get to it right away. I have things going on in my life other than the Legacy forums!
