SUPERBU
I spent some time last night with Justin and the gang at Wicked CAS. Here are some pics of what we accomplished. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/cleansweep.jpghttp:// Cleansweep under passenger seat http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/doorspeaker.jpg Polk SR6500 door speakers. These were dead right out of the box. Had to install JL speakers instead. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/W3.jpg JL 10W3v3 in the Wicked CAS fiberglass box. You should hear this thing! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/volume.jpg Cleansweep and sub control knob where the heated seats were. The LED is flush mounted in between them. (giant fingerprint not included) Sorry Manville!! I had the idea first but you executed before I did. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/amps.jpg Temporary amprack until I decide what I want to do. Spare tire, jack, tools, and jumper cables all reside under the rack. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/TRUNKEMPTY.jpg How the trunk looks with everything installed. JL trim ring is painted gray metallic to match the interior pieces. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/RC-NUT/LEGACY%20GT/carinshop.jpg

lucas569
I bet that thing sounds really nice! Any reason you went with the McIntosh amps? I know they are good, but are they THAT good? those are old skool, BUT from whati recall they were very clean sounding amps. lots-o-money too! i dont know how they compare to todays amps but i wouldnt turn one down if someone threw one my way. myself i like the old skool ppi art series, nice clean sound. Boulderguy
Lots of amps are clean & powerful, that's easy. Clean, powerful, warm & musical is a whole different burrito - hang on to those puppies.
SUPERBU
I bought those amps brand new back in 1997. They have been in and out of many vehicles and I just don't have the heart to get rid of them. The highs are very smooth even with an inexpensive coax speaker. The JL 10W3 seems to be a little under-powered though. I'm either going to try my 500/1 amp or I may switch to a W1 series which is more efficient. thats just awesome work, but then again, i expect nothing less from Nazar and the gang at wicked CAS Hey how about a little credit! I did the doors, the cleansweep, and the wiring.

16psibrick
oh, didnt read that part, good job ont he doors and the wiring too! heheh quck question, with taht kind of amp rack desing, i know it keeps the spare, but how easy is it to actually access the spare... take into account real world conditions rainy, windy night on the side of a high way? SUPERBU
Once I figure out the amp configuration I want to use I'll make a new rack. It will be a shallow tub painted to match the car. I'm going to make a new floor out of 2 pieces of 1/4" MDF using the carpet as a hinge. The tub will be fastened to the floor so the floor will lift as it does now and the tub will lift up with it. All of the wires come in from the backside so there will be no interfearance. Justin has offered to rig a linear actuator to lift the floor but I;m not sure yet. I may even be able to re-use the factory plastic clip that holds the floor up to access the spare. Plan B...... AAA:lol:

SBT
Just curious - what are you looking at cost-wise, for a system like that? SBT - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -

Kaptan
I have a fiberglass enclosure too, how is it mounted in the corner? What did you do with your heated seat controls?
SUPERBU
Just curious - what are you looking at cost-wise, for a system like that? That's a tricky question. The sky is the limit with audio. I'll send you a PM and you can reply with any questions on cost and recomendations. Very nice work, clean looking. Tell me, where'd you source the foam around the speakers? I grabbed some pieces of foam from my shipping department at work. I used a turkey carving knife to cut the shape. I have a fiberglass enclosure too, how is it mounted in the corner? What did you do with your heated seat controls? I used a special fastner. You drill a 3/8" hole in the floor and you press in the fastner like a pop-rivit. It's threaded in the middle so you can bolt down the box from the inside. I wasn't happy with drilling the hole but it works good. I relocated the heated seat controls in the rear console compartment. The harness from the factory is almost 2 feet long so you extension was necessary. It fit's snug in between the 12V plug and the side of the compartment. It actually almost looks factory.

IwannaSportSedan
I wonder if one could do that, and put in the new 07 smaller heat control switches (they both fit into a rectangular switch blank... i wonder if there is any room on the console to mount those.) Great install. looks very good, and I am sure it sounds amazing.

SUPERBU
AHHH descisions descisions!!! Naz and Justin from Wicked CAS convinced me to swap out my Mac amps for a JL 500/1 and a 300/2 just to experiment. All I can say is WOW those things have some nut! The Mac's are much warmer but definitly fall behind in the power catagory. Now I don't know what to do. Oh ya and I swaped the 10W3v3 for a 10W6v2. Amazing difference!! For those of you with Wicked CAS sub boxes.....This is the sub of choice. It's unreal.
16psibrick
hehe get a pair of DLS ultimate A3 Dual mono amps, and then you will really see what power means hehe...talk about headroom yikes...and true dual mono block design which ever sounds better is the one i would go wtih, headroom counts for a lot to be honest... Boulderguy
Keep the macs for the front end, use the 500/1 for the sub. Can you bridge the macs & run them as monoblocks? That would sound phenomenal...
SUPERBU
My last car had both of the Mac's bridged mono to a set of 3-way components in fiberglass kick pannels. (6" in the doors, 4"+1" in the kicks) That was the best front stage I have ever had. Keep the macs for the front end, use the 500/1 for the sub. Can you bridge the macs & run them as monoblocks? That would sound phenomenal... Boulderguy....We think alike. Unfortunatly the three amps don't fit in the spare tire well. I tried the 500/1 with (1) MAc to the fronts and it was a total mismatch. The sub just walked away with a ton of headroom. Just so you know the (2) Mac's do sound beautiful. It's just that the gains are at 95% and there is no headroom. The sub volume stays at 100% most of the time. I'm not comfortable with having the gains set at that level. The THD goes out the window. Thanks for all of your input so far.
