XgT
how do you find these sites trs, the only thing holding me back is that nobody has these in stock yet right? are the hts006 the red ones or the us market dspec dark grey ones.
rodan
I ordered a set from JDs this morning. They told me 1 wk -10 days for them to get them from Tokico, which fits with what Tokico told me. He said he was going to order a couple of extra sets... I said that was probably a good idea... He said I was the third to order them so far.... TRS
how do you find these sites trs Giggity, giggity, Google! the only thing holding me back is that nobody has these in stock yet right? Standard response is "5 to 10 business days". are the hts006 the red ones or the us market dspec dark grey ones. According to Tokico "D-Spec shocks/struts are simply HTS in grey". Since these carry the HTS designation rather than DSP, I'd assume they're red.

LittleBlueGT
Any thoughts on how they would work with the Ions? Very very well! Especially seeing that they are adjustable. Best suspension mod you can get IMO! Full tune of 68HTA, KSTech 73 MAF, Racer X FMIC and ID1000s................by the DataLog Mafia!!!
RaceComp Engineering
For all intensive purposes they are the j-spec HTS dampers tokico just rebranded them here as the dspec. I saw the same thing that you saw on their website. After speaking to the sales rep at tokico I was told they will be going by the dspec moniker here in the U.S. HTS doesnt have the appeal for the american hip market.. "D spec" sounds cooler.. marketing thing.. Who wouldnt want a "D Spec" shock? "Spec B" is already taken
intercede007
The price point really interests me, but as a wagon owner, I'd have no elegant way of adjusting the settings for the rear. I'm really interested to see other's get the parts installed and see where their comfort settings fall. Go guinea pigs, go!
Boulderguy
They make an adjustable extension that works well for the rears in a wagon. You can plug it into the strut top & loop it around until it shoots out the bottom of the rear interior panel covering the strut. Stealth.
Boulderguy
About the ginea pigging, I've had these struts on an OBXT for about 9 mos. Have used them with Swifts, Pinks & Ions. To date, the Ions have provided the best combo of handling & comfort with the tokicos. B/c of the adj damping, they all work well with the struts, I just like the ions the best so far. Boulderguy
All of you interested in the GB, why not get an informal roster going with a rough number of potential buyers & contact the vendors yourself? Or Tokico-California for that matter? Sombody's got to have some initiative...

Boulderguy
Not sure what you're looking for here in terms of details. Given the infinite adjustment ability, they can be contoured to virtually any spring. In my mind, they match best to the Ions, but that's not necessarily a qualified opinion. So if the struts adjust between 0-7, seven being softest, here's what I found to be the best settings for daily driving with occasional canyon carving: Pinks - 3.5 rear/4.5 front Swifts - 1.5 rear/2.5 front Ions - 3 rear/3.5 front These are my set-it-&-leave-it settings. SubieRU
Does that mean that the Swifts are the softest springs in conjunction with these struts, since they, in your opinion, require the stiffest strut settings?

driggity
Not sure what you're looking for here in terms of details. Well you said that the Ions provided the best combination of handling and comfort (in your opinion). I was wondering if another setup felt like it handled better and rode worse or rode better but handled worse. Or if one setup felt over damped in compression when you had the damping properly set for rebound. Or if one setup handled big bumps well, but not smaller bumps. Those kind of things. I was wondering if another setup felt like it handled better and rode worse or rode better but handled worse. Or if one setup felt over damped in compression when you had the damping properly set for rebound. Or if one setup handled big bumps well, but not smaller bumps. Those kind of things. I see. Frankly, no, I don't spend that much time thinking about it. I don't even get that tech on my MTB fork come to think of it! My impression of the struts is that any adjustment affects both compression & rebound damping equally. That may not be the case, but it seems that way in practice. So a stiffer spring like the Swifts needed more damping, hence the lower setting. The pinks were the softest of the group & required the least damping. On any of these springs, going with a higher number (less damp) than posted above yields a bouncy ride but is more supple over small road imperfections. As to big bumps vs small bumps, I haven't thought much about it. The bigger hits get the shocks moving regardless of stiffness setting & more dependant on the spring qualities, the smaller tits tend to be tied more closely to the strut stiffness setting. Hits. I meant hits. Typo. I will say - and this is more about preference than an objective spring rating - that the Swifts were the best handling spring of the group but also the most difficult to live with as a daily driver. The Pinks & Ions are very similiar in terms of ride comfort & driveability but the Ions have far better road feel & cornering confidence. Don't want to go too far with that since this ain't a spring thread.
MIKEBRAVO
Boulderguy your my Hero. Great write up! It answers about 3/4 of my questions. These are the last 1/4, Which pinks did you use, Spec or GT, and what type of drop did you get with the pinks. Thanks If you can afford College, you probably don't need to go.
