jnd121
I noticed in my 05 LGT that when I put on the defrost, it blows hot air, even if I have the climate control set to 65 (on both sides). As soon as I change the mode, the air is cold again. Anyone else have this issue?
jnd121
Sorry, I did a more detailed search and found a thread on this already. Apparently I am not the only one.
Ric
Why is it an "issue"? Hot air can hold more moisture than cold air, so of course it does. It probably uses the aircon and heater together, cooling the air first to remove moisture, then heating it so it can absorb more.
jnd121
It is an issue when it is 90+ as it is now and you need to defog your windows. It turns your car into a sauna and forces you to change the mode.
mccorry
It probably uses the aircon and heater together, cooling the air first to remove moisture, then heating it so it can absorb more. That is exactly what it is doing..... A/C to remove the moisture so it doesn't fog/freeze the inside of the windshield.... Heater to pre-heat the air so it can de-frost the windshield if it is cold outside.
jnd121
Even if it is smokin' hot out? I find it weird that even if you have it on 65 it still comes out hot. This is the only car that I have ever seen do this.
Ric
That's how "defrost" works. You're only supposed to use it for a short time to clear the glass.
rallispec
if you manually set it to the windshield vent position, rather than pressing the defrost button - you can defrost the windsheild using only the AC.
