PhillyGT
I know everyone has seen the painted caliper but I thought I'd throw mine up for some eye candy. The blue is brighter in the pictures. FYI - Overspray sucks as you can see in the back of the first picture, also my driveway got a touch of blue. A little more on this since a few of you are interested- www.buyadecal.com -high heat enamel -plenty of masking tape!!! Taping off the area is very important as you can see in this picture. Then simply spray or brush on whichever type of paint you buy. The decal was the hard part as the "B" "A" and "R" had the small inserts in the letters themselves. I used a simple exacto knife to place them on. Then simple tape around the logo and spray again. Be sure to leave plenty of drying time between each coat. I used blue because I also have blue LED's in my hood scoop. I was thinking black but they wouldn't show off as nice. It was my first time doing this. I read a post by another subaru fan and just tried it myself. Anyone can do this with a few hours to spare. Glad you all enjoy it. I also added a picture of my Legacy during a snow storm, if you can see it.

planigan
Yeah, tell us. I want to do the same. Also, how did you paint "subaru"? +1 That looks a lot better than some of the other painted calipers that I've seen.

gao
the decals are available at http://www.buyadecal.com and btw will painted calipers cause the dealer to not fix it under warranty? I had that question in mind because at only 200 miles my brakes scored and that would cost a couple hundred dollars thanks
laz
Looking good! I need to paint mine soon. Thinking black with white Subaru letters. X ---
al-gorithm
Is it me or is the subaru lettering upside down in the first picture?
laz
Is it me or is the subaru lettering upside down in the first picture? I was thinking the same thing, backwards. Maybe he fixed it later? X ---
mbacis
Nice. I've been holding off on mine because I can't find a color that I want. I would like to do either a titanium/dark silver (like the Brembos on a S60 R) or a dark burnt orange (like the KSport coilovers), but I can only find high-temp paints in your basic black, red, yellow, silver, or blue. Maybe I'll try mixing a silver with a little black.
AKLGT
i did mine very similar just last month. first time, i used the high heat enamel. didn't last thru the winter here. this time, i used the duplicolor caliper kit, blue. looks about the same color, but it was a brush on application. i prefer the brush on vs spray. can get some pretty thick coats of it plus, can add the hardener in the paint for longer lasting. that's just my experience thus far. painted my previous car's calipers using the G2 caliper kit. top notch, but super expensive! duplicolor caliper kit was only $15 or so... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/New%20Rims/CIMG7751copy.jpg before: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/AutoCross%20May%2029%2005%20Hope%20and%20Phil/CIMG7742copy.jpg Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!! John M
Mine, circa September 2004: http://www.moojohn.com/subaru/caliper2.jpg Steps: Spray center (decal area) of caliper silver. Let dry. Apply Subaru decal. Spray caliper desired color. Remove decal to explose silver SUBARU. Done. As far as the blue goes, it's damn hard to find a darker blue in an engine/heat enamel. Bdubs
well i went with http://www.tirerack.com/images/brakes/g2/cal_paint.jpg post some pics after i am done. thanks. You could've spent half the money for the Duplicolor kit. Its the same thing, only difference that one can handle the heat more by about 20 degrees... John M
I like it. Where did you find yours? Thanks. Original thread has everything. Bought stickers from ebay, engine paint from AutoZone. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4454 Unfortunately it looks like the sticker guy I delt with has gone out of business. There are other sources for the stickers but I liked buying from another Subaru enthusiast. At least I know my frosted AWD stickers will be unique
