FroMan
I've been doing a bit of digging lately for exhaust options for my 2.5gt wagon. I came across a few threads that mentioned issues with droning etc. Anyone have a good or bad comment about a perticular exhaust on their wagon? Any brands not fit? hal9e3
I have a Lachute Y-pipe/resonator and Prodrive muffler combo that's going on over the July 4th weekend. I'll let you know how it works out.
wukindada
Try the Greddy SP2....think of it as a slightly more aggressive Borla:) I have the EVO2 & there is def a drone...but around town I love it! Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
captainmorgan
I just got done fitting my Stromung exhaust on my OBXT. Oh man! It's pure sex! This is my second stromung (first was on my 02 wrx). I love the ultra deep rumble of them. I don't think that I'll ever go with a different brand. I gotta get some pics and clips up soon.
Rommel
Any exhaust that you put on a wagon will drone. I used to have a Lachute mufflers but now I have the Prodrive. The problem with the wagon is there's nothing that separates the passenger cabin fron the compartment area like the sedan.
captainmorgan
Mine resonates the rear. I'm planning on getting some high temp foam to fill in the void left by the stock exhaust. That or layer some accustice matting on the outside, though that might not hold up well / be expensive to replace.

I'm afraid you are right:( Even the Prodrives alone with a catless downpipe(rest stock) drone. Even the "Hogshaust Mod" is a tad loud:lol:
hal9e3
WRT droning, I had a Supersprint muffler on my '95 GS-R coupe that was AWESOME! The hatchback configuration is pretty much the same as a wagon, and I'm sure that car wasn't sound deadened as well as my LGTL wagon, but the sound of that muffler was, for me anyway, perfect. No difference in sound at steady state driving, just a tiny bit of extra growl on lift and just a little more growl on acceleration. Pity they don't make one for the Legacy, tho I'm not sure if it would work as well as the Integra's. I saw a review of WRX exhaust systems and the Supersprint was pretty loud compared to some of the others. Anyway, you can always turn up the stereo if the drone bugs ya. I find Crystal Method and Prodigy are particularly effective at car noise suppression with minimal ear canal bleeding:)
Rommel
Which one is quieter? The Lachute was quiet if you have a stock UP/DP but when I installed an UP/DP it got loud.

Do you have a up & down pipe installed also? If you don't mind me asking, what did the Stromung run you and where did you order it from?
PhilT
Greddy SP2 is pretty quiet at idle, drones a little at highway speeds but not annoyingly so. It got quieter after the first month of driving. It's also one of the cheapest Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon

Rommel
looks a lot better on OBs because there is no cut out to match or fill
4boxparts
I like the sp2 sound on the wagon. I'm running an apexi ps revo exhaust barely any droning at all. A usdm bumpered wagon probably wouldn't be able to pull it off though.
scatman
I like my SP2. No drone in my opinion. At first I thought it was to quite, but after a few monthes of living with it I think its just right. I'm a little imbarrased by the huge tips however. And I dont care for the rolled lips.

suds2250
Bump for wagons! Does anyone have a Borla cat-back installed on a wagon? Is there any drone? How do the tips fit in the cutouts? 335HP/360Tq VF-22/1820 clone with Meth
suds2250
OK, I found one picture. Are there any more? Did anyone extend the tips out to the opening? 335HP/360Tq VF-22/1820 clone with Meth
NutBucket
I'd get a Greddy SP2 if I had a wagon...hell, I'd like one for my sedan. I don't understand why they only offer a wagon fitment. suds2250
Yea, I thought about the Greddy SP2, but from some of the clips I've heard it is pretty loud and I would probably have a resomator put in. 335HP/360Tq VF-22/1820 clone with Meth
Enlight
I think what would help with drone is putting dynamat in the cavity on the trunk floor where the spare goes. I'm guessing it acts as a drum and reverberates the drone thoughout the car. Bessie II

goneskiian
I've heard leaving the stock mufflers when going with an aftermarket (more open exhaust) makes for a fairly quiet setup. Yes, the stock tips flow a bit less but it wouldn't register on a butt dyno. I think patagoniaGT has this set up on his wagon maybe he'll chime in here.
