Gohmer1
No, I'm just saying, what the heck is the point of having a super bright tag light. It looks better when it's not even lit up! (My RS used to have burnt out tag lights).

You may think that... but I've already recieved 4 different compliments from complete strangers, on how cool the rear end of the car looks at night... ZinFreak
I started a trend... my roomate just installed some on his ranger! Being a sucker for things that light up, I went for it, but did a bunch more too. The removal of the back cover as described is easy, really easy. I was surprised how quickly it all came apart. Don't know why the owner's manual issues the "may be difficult" warning for sedans. The plate LEDs are really something, gives my subie a glowing cool blue back end look. I decided while I was ordering from http://www.superbrightleds.com/ I might as well try some of the other inside lighting as well. I ordered up some of the 4 & 9 bulb festoons in RED. I'm a pilot and I really like having a red interior because it preserves night vision. So, I replaced the overhead and the map lights with the red festoons. Wicked. I've always wanted red interior lighting in my car, now I have them! Now if I could just get an altimeter worked into the cubby. I guess I don't have to worry about the overhead light being left on now since the LED's use so little power. Be well. -Zin 06 LGT LTD GRP 5MT 07 FXT LTD OBP 4EAT

ZinFreak
^ PICS!!! Interior and exterior night pics together with both sets on, I gotta see this! Please? I have a meeting that will run late tomorrow night, so I'll try taking a picture with my craptastic digital camera of the interior lighting. The tails look exactly like the other pictures posted by others in this thread, but I'll do that too. Be well. -Zin 06 LGT LTD GRP 5MT 07 FXT LTD OBP 4EAT
ZinFreak
Can you even see the red in your map lights? Absolutely. With one on I could read the writing on my college class ring. The light is very subdued, perfect for night time. I haven't tried reading a map with it, but it is just as good as any single engine aircraft I've flown at night. Shouldn't be a problem. -Zin 06 LGT LTD GRP 5MT 07 FXT LTD OBP 4EAT
AirSix
I started a trend... my roomate just installed some on his ranger! You may have already answered this...You said you purchased (2) 6-LED lights for the license plate illumination. Were the lights you purchased "refractor" style where there are LED's around the circumference of the light as well as facing forward? I see that you had to re-drill holes to get the light distributed better. I tell myself that an N/A Forester is just an STI without all the fluff like, power, handling, style, racing heritage, and curb appeal.

TCL28
Guys... I get the picture. I will take a bunch of night shots with accurate color sat eve... Velocity Leds have been holding tight for a good 6 months now with no real complaints. If there was one it would be that they keep coming out with new stuff... I buy the hot sh*t and only to find out the next week they have an upgraded High Output designs now. Oh well, have to pick up some of those and check'um out... Ok so Lic. Plate bulbs... Today I followed WRXGUY's suggestion on not going thru the trunk liner, and instead got the back section off... Damn that was EZ! 2 Screws and then a series of pop its and it's off! Thanks again for that shortcut:icon_mrgr So in doing so I tried my 921 backup bulbs in the License plate socket and it fits in the housing without interference. The 921 is a larger bulb and often contains many more led's in it. Thus even more light! BUT the new high power bulbs are much shorter and sit lower in the socket. This would work better for our lic plate application So here is my List of Led's and bulbs that I have swapped out... Door step lights, Map lights& Dome: total of 5 Currently installed http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/6435/31759whf6.jpg *(But previously had the festoon style 9 LED but these put out a much brighter directional light.) Trunk: HID WHITE 24 LED CIRCUIT BOARD BULB 194 http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/6781/194cbwxk9.jpgThis works well and throws more light than the stock bulb. Reverse/back-up lights: 921 - 9 led bulb http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/799/9219wga5.jpg Brake lights and rear turns 7440 & 7443: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4818/744324rlu3.jpg License Plate: 914 - 5 LED refractor http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/9499/1945wuv9.jpg I also have my front and rear turns, but I am awaiting a hype flasher fix! http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/9632/pict1450sf3.jpg Head Lighting is by Nokya H3 Hyper Yellow fogs (55w) H7 Arctic Purple Low Beams (100) Silver Star Highs Silver Star Sliver/Blue - Amber front turns http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/2328/pict1496di7.jpg So hope that answers some of the questions and I will get some pics up ASAP. Thanks for the interest guys... Have a good one. Gunner out! When you replaced the rear turn signals, did you go with amber or stick with red? ArcTec34
sighh why do people put 6 LED lights over your license plate? i have single LEDs on both sides and it insanely bright to begin with, but 6? drawing unwanted attention to my license plate.. haha. too much light ;-) I'd rather have it harder to read. anyways, i didnt remove the piece under the license plate or the entire trunk lines, i popped out two of the clips on the liner and just reached my arm in until i found the bulb.. easy enough :-p
