SubLo
OK. Thanks to another member providing me the service manual for the KNA-DV3200, I've looked at my OEM Spec.B's Navi today. It indeed works! It brings up a calculator-looking interface and prompts for the PIN. I imagine this is exactly the same on the Navi Outbacks and EAT '06 Navis. Someone, anyone, PLEASE share the PIN? I'll post picture later - eating lunch now. SubLo
The bonehead that I am, I think I just answered my own question. The Service Manual says it's 014220. I'll have to try it this afternoon. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

SubLo
Microphone? Remote control? Traffic system? Uh oh. Yep. All those goodies are compatible. This system is stock Kenwood - just Scoobied up/De-tuned so to speak. If the camera input works, as someone has already done with no third party add-ons or other mods, I'm certain the mic and TMC will too. Notice in the manual that there is also a DVD MPEG4 option in there that states "requires decoder". I imagine the decoder is already in place in our FGZ000UF2 head units. More to come... ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
SubLo
Microphone? Remote control? Traffic system? Uh oh. Yes, yes, and yes. All 3 are available on the market and should work - no problem. The backup camera requires nothing additional. Works automatically. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
Jon in CT
sublo neglected to explain how to gain access to the PIN entry screen. After you pass the AGREE screen, hit the Menu button below the display. Now imagine there's a button at the very top of the screen in the middle. Press and hold that button for a few seconds until the Enter PIN screen appears. Just because the microcode supports voice commands doesn't necessarily mean that the hardware does. Has anyone actually examined the back of the DVD unit to check whether the connector necessary for the microphone is present?

But then again, if you RTM (also posted in the other Navi thread I mention here), it tells you to do that. Someone on this board, #072, aleady connected a camera to the back of the OEM unit flawlessly with no other hardware or mods. This is a bad, unfocussed, cropped picture from his mod: http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19553&d=1149877562 When I have time, I'll take mine apart. It's gonna be a couple of weeks though. My weekends are consumed by kid stuff. Oh the joys of fatherhood. We have not seen any good pictures of the rear of the DVD unit (under driver's seat) and I doubt the Subaru DVD unit is 100% identical to the KNA-DV3100. The DVD unit is where things like the optional voice command microphone and push-to-talk button are connected, not the display unit.

There was no way I was going to remove that thing at night. Anyway, it's nearly impossible to get some good pixors without removing. There is definately something suspect with the Scooby OEM unit. I know it's hard to tell, but if you compare the schematic from the manual (below) to the picture (also below), you'll see that they are identical only, the TMC Receiver (traffic - optional - not in our cars) port seems to have a metal knock-out instead of the port. Hmm. On the positive side, you'll see that the optional Voice Control Mic port is there and free as well as the Remote Control Sensor port (green). I couldn't get a good look at the other side where the Active Speaker should be. It was really dark out. Overall, I'm encouraged. I know some of what I want to do with the OEM system can be done. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

SubLo
']None of your attachments demonstrate that the Subaru DVD unit supports either the Remote or Voice add-ons. Say what??? How do you figure? I've clearly demonstrated that the back of the chasis is the real deal. BTW, it's not the 3100 as you mention it's the 3200. If you want to 100% proof from me, you're not gonna get it 'cause I obviously haven't purchased those parts. Just because the microcode supports voice commands doesn't necessarily mean that the hardware does. Has anyone actually examined the back of the DVD unit to check whether the connector necessary for the microphone is present? What's with so much negativity? No need. Your posts don't prove that it doesn't support it either. Let's wait and see 'til you, me, or some other Spec.B owner tries it. Lighten up dude. Remote Sensor is Green - Looks like 1/8" stereo plug. Mic Input is Black rectangular, proprietary on right. As previously mentioned, the TMC initially looks incompatible as the input has a metal knockout instead of the port (directly left of of the remote sensor input). http://www.nyccs.net/images/lgt/DSCN1291.JPG ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
