SubLo
Agreed. Anything with a turbo-diesel V8 and an "old" fashioned frame chassis is the best frequent towing option. Most of those engines are only availble in 3/4 - 1 ton trucks however and are overkill for 3500lbs IMO. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

RobE
V8 Explorer 7300lb tow rating but I wouldn't recommend it. I would try the Nissan Pathfinder. 6000 lb tow rating. http://newenglandsubarus.com/

93formula
Infiniti QX-4 used... Decent gas milage (lower 20s is what my friend gets) pretty nice, 5000 lbs towing 2001-2003 model and can be found for upper teens.
Sponge
Jeep Grand Cherokee w/the 5.7 Liter Hemi 330hp7000 lbs towing capacity I traded mine in for my Legacy...By far and a way the best car I have ever owned. I miss it terribly! I traded it for two cars (wife giving up her company car when the kid arrives) I towed my CJ from Chicago to Colorado and back w/o issue. It went up and down the mountains w/a 15 ft dual axle trailer (brakes on one axle only) without a single problem. I was passing cars and out braking semi's w/the auto stick. The interior is quite nice and great options such as very intuitive navagation, 6 disc player. SIRIUS radio, rain sensing wipers, auto high/low bean, homelink, rear parking sensors, rear dvd, huge moon roof, memory heated seats, electric pedals... No other SUV has the looks or fit and finish for the money (other than Durango and its too big and UGLY) Bad side is gas mileage but that's what you get w/any SUV or truck. Just have them test drive it and put their foot in it....that's all it will take I guarantee it! My vB Gallery
rodan
Anything turbo diesel FTW. Shortbed crew cab will be about like an SUV. Better gas mileage, longer durability and all the power you'll ever need. Once you've towed with a turbo diesel, you'll never go back to gas...
Garandman
hmmm, Dude I want to rain on your parade but, your boat weighing 3k and the towing capacity is 3.5k…..you can make up that .5 k by fuel, oil, and other little things in the boat not to mention passengers…. I don’t think the B-9 is enough machine to be towing around a Bass boat…..I tow one as well……my 4-runner has a tough enough time with it climbing hills. I do have all the extra’s as well for towing….. You’ll be maxing that thing out…..and I have seen what happens to vehicles towing too much…. We have a Ford Econoline with a 351. Tough to beat a cargo van for towing boats. It's rated for 7700 lbs but the most I've towed is 5,000 - which is what it weighs. It did a great job with our old boat, 3,000 lbs or so on the trailer, plus sails, gear, and three crew. Who Dares Wins スバル

John M
Oh, and Plus one for 4Runner V8. Do keep in mind that if you get the Sport model, you can get a v8 4Runner with fulltime AWD. It still offers a low range transfer case, lockable center diff, and the Sport includes the XREAS suspension which makes handling many times better. 5spd automatic too. My brother's 05: http://finddoug.com/054runner/4r1s.jpg http://finddoug.com/054runner/4r4s.jpg Japanese heads, tails, TRD exhaust, Toyota/Enkei 20s, HIDs - lots of goodies

godwhomismike
The 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Turbodiesel FTW!!! The turbodiesel Grand Cherokee will feature the new 3.0-liter CRD engine, built by Mercedes-Benz, that produces 215 hp at 3,800 rpm and 376 pound-feet of torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. It will return an estimated 19 mpg in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway. The Grand Cherokee CRD will have a driving range of approximately 425 miles and a towing capacity of 7,400 pounds.
