apexjapan
Ross and I brought the little red wagon and the AVO Legacy for a day of lapping at Fuji Speedway thanks to an invite by Nutek Racing, which had rented the track for the day. This was our first time on the new Fuji Speedway after the redesign to make it friendly for F1 racing. It is actually quite nice to drive on even in street cars, with high-speed sweepers and only a few corners that really beat on the cars. The biggest problem for many of the other drivers out that day was keeping up speeds, as there were many high-speed corners that required a bit of commitment. Ross was taking them flat-out in 5th gear! I went quite well, the Legacy design really lends itself to high-speed tracks, even when going up against heavy hitting GT-R's, S2000's, Ferrari's and Porsches. However, I still have the Japanese speed limiter in place, so every time I got to the main straight, I just jammed up to 180km/h (reachable in 3rd gear!) and just sat at that for a while. So while I placed 14th out of 61, I would have done quite a bit better if I could sit at 250km/h like the rest of the cars. Well, and if I had run more than 2 laps after the practice runs - a minor bout with electrical troubles (one of the plug wires was not hooked up properly) kept me out till the event was over. http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews/data/nutek_avonews.data/size_2/nutek_016.jpg http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews/data/nutek_avonews.data/size_2/nutek_014.jpg http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews/data/nutek_avonews.data/size_2/nutek_013.jpg http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews/data/nutek_avonews.data/size_2/nutek_003.jpg http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews/data/nutek_avonews.data/size_2/nutek_004.jpg http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews/data/nutek_avonews.data/size_2/nutek_008.jpg More pics at the usual suspect, http://www.avoturbo.com/avonews. Still sorting through everything while trying to recover from yesterday. I go back to Fuji on Sunday for the Six Star Festa, which should be a blast as well! apexjapan
I'd just not thought of it - it's the first track that I've raced on with my Legacy that had a section long enough to worry about that! Otherwise, I'm not much of a top speed fan, I once did it to one of my twin turbo Legacies, hit 255km/h a couple of times, realized it wasn't that exciting, so forgot to do it since! apexjapan
Yes, still running those ap racing calipers! We got some new pads in, and they were absolutely stellar at Fuji, didn't have any problems with braking even with the high speeds.
