Lexus releases AWD Hybrid Sedan is Subaru's far behind?

Lexus just introduced it's LS 600H at the NY Auto Show.

I know we heard reports before that Toyota and Subaru were unsuccessful in getting Toyota's Synergy drive system to work with Subaru's awd system. Obviously Toyota was able to make something work with AWD drivetrain, so do you think Subaru will get access to this technology with their 10% parent?

The big trade there is battery technology from Subaru (who have an awesome battery from NEC i think?), not the actual system. The TPH system they showed off in the B5 concept car should be into production by 08 or 09 with the revisions of the Legacy and the new Impreza. They might be able to pirate some of the electric motor parts from toyota though and integrate those maybe.

Subaru did have some form of hybrid Legacy in the works. It was an electronic assist motor in it that really just made up for the lag a little for the most part.they stopped working on it and went into developing an AWD motorcycle. Maybe they are just going to snag some hybrif stuf from toyota and just didnt feel like bothering so they said hey lets make an AWD bike and let toyota make us a hybrid
