jazzymt
So, the last time I brought my car into the dealership, some dude decides he needs to put his greasy hand print on the A-pillar. This is the second time my poor A-pillar has been soiled (first time was on delivery), but I had a prepaid pro-detail overdue, which is done through a sister company of the dealer, so I have my fiance bring it in to have it taken care of... When she picked it up, they had not cleaned it sufficiently, and she pointed it out, so they brought it back in and scrubbed it right out. When I got my car back, I noticed they scrubbed so hard, or soaked it so much that the apholstry delaminated from the pillar and bubbled up.... lame... So, my lovely fiance takes it back and complains for me, and they promptly agree to buy me a new A-pillar. Ok, fine. Monday, said fiance brings it back to the dealership again to put in an A-pillar and replace the wiper blades. Should take like 10 minutes right? Wrong. Around 10am, I get a call from the woman and she's got news. When pulling my precious XT into the garage, the mo-ron did not get the door up high enough and ran my car into the garage door. Nice. So, now, they're also buying me new rack rails, and probably going to have to repaint the roof. Miraculously, they did not dent the roof, although it does have a long scratch on the pass side, and both rails are scratched up pretty good. Sooooo lame. Now it will be in the body shop/dealership for days, and they'll have to give me a loaner. The way I see it, they owe me another detail too. I was also debating trying to con them into installing my UP & DP for me. Not that anyone on this board will probably ever interact with them, but this happened at Rimrock Subaru in Billings, MT. jazzymt
Does the dealership have a Special Ed program in place with your local high school?Mmmm...yeaaaa... When my fiance called me and told me they drove my car into the garage door, I had to sit back for a sec and just ponder, "Y.G.T.B.F.K.M!" What do you think, should I call the service manager and threaten to tell the whole story to the local paper for some kind of reimbursement? Say...all weather mats? hondas123
ABSOLUTELY...you're entitled to get "something" out of this dilemna. I would say all weather mats are the minimum. I wouldn't threaten him....at least not yet....just kindly let him know how dissatisfied you are and how you feel you should be compensated for these repeated inconveniences. - The Mortgage Man
ih8vtec13
I wouldnt say all-wether mats just bitch and see what they will offer you, also threaten to call SOA about how bad this has been. Maybe you can get a nice credit to your next car or something.
twowheels00
Dude, THAT sucks. I'd get on his ass. When they replace the rails and repaint the roof, you need to make sure they do it right!! All I can think of is a leaking roof (later on down the road) and paint that peels off or doesn't look right. Make sure they warranty their work for the life of the car!! jazzymt
I finally got everything fixed by the dealership. The Subaru service manager really tried hard to make sure everything was taken care of - checked the alignment and pulled another dent while it was in there. But when I asked for a refund for the lifetime oil & 5 detail service I paid for when I bought the car, the dealership gave me the shaft. So, I sent in an abismal service survey. Subaru service manager called today, fairly bummed out. I guess he's the only one the survey reflects on - exactly the opposite of my intent. So, he offers to do whatever he can to make up to me the lame dealership policies. I mention UP/DP install I have planned soon and he's all over offering to do it for me. Only one problem, he's never heard of an uppipe or downpipe before... Its not like he will be the one putting it on the car, but eek gad. How can I trust it to get done right if he doesn't even know what it is I'm asking him to get done? It's too bad, I'd rather not spend my Sat on the ground under my car - I have a lot of other stuff I need to get done, but I want it done soon, and there's no way should trust them right? So I should probably just do it myself. Damn. This is likely the only thing I would be able to get out of the dealership too.. Anyone have any other ideas to get some free service? (not oil changes or details bonehead) Subaru Plug & Play Aux-in Mod www.jazzyengineering.com

jazzymt
I just thought I'd post another followup because of how cool the Subaru service manager is being. After much sound advice, I tackled the UP/DP install myself and I'm glad I did. However, I fouled the front O2 sensor (wary expensive) with PB Blaster in the process. It has gradually burned off and CEL hasn't come back for a week or so, but I mentioned it to the serv. manager and no hesitation, "bring it in and I'll warranty it - nobody has to know." Sweet. So, he's got idiots workin' for him, but at least he tries hard That's worth somethin' ain't it? Not likely to have warranty prob's with this guy because of stage2 at least. That's worth a LOT in my book. 2006Specb122
Sounds cool.... how did your stage 2 install go?Smoothly? I've finally just about got everything dialed in. There is a unique sound when the car first runs. During heavy acceleration I get a loud sound that sounds like a leak or whistle but then after about three pulls it goes away. I'm glad everything worked out for you!
jazzymt
During heavy acceleration I get a loud sound that sounds like a leak or whistle but then after about three pulls it goes away. I'm glad everything worked out for you!Except for the O2 sensor, which was a royal pain in my ass to remove, it went fairly well. I also get a sound when & like you describe...I don't think I'd call it loud, but I can hear it. I either don't floor it as often, or I just don't notice it as much anymore. It worried me at first, but I think it's just the turbo & exhaust noises in the pipes. When you go from a thick cast iron pipe to a mandrel bent steel one, you have to end up hearing more exhaust noise through the pipes. jazzymt
Does your sound go away after a few minutes?Yea, pretty much...although it's not terribly loud to begin with. Like I said, I don't notice it as much to begin with anymore. I've put on around 1500 miles since the upgrade...either I'm used to it or it was a small leak and the gaskets just needed to "seat" themselves. jazzymt
I'll preface this post by admitting this is entirely my fault, but damn...I wish something would go without a hitch for once. So, I get my car back, all shiney and clean. They ran it through their carwash after doing the engine work & changing the oil. I read through the work receipt to make sure they got everything, then I read the dreaded words... "REPROGRAMMED ECM". FHAAAAAAAACK! I can already tell the programming is lost just by feel, but is there a simple way to make sure? /sigh I guess I'll have to send my AP in to Cobb now to get it reset so I can flash again... what a PITA. That's what you call - learning the hard way to unmarry every time you visit the dealer.
