bbren
I have a '97 legacy outback 2.5l automatic (75k mi). When I take off hard from a dead stop I get some front tire wheel spin, it's worse if I am making a turn. (I just had our Subaru technician replace the "duty solinoid" and "center clutch pack" in the transmission, I was experiancing excessive drive-line binding when making sharp turns at low speeds, the repair was recomended to correct the drive-line binding. Now this problem has arrised, it feels like the AWD is not working!) Anyone got any ideas on this one?
FameMax
Is there a FWD light on? I know a lot of the older subarus could be made FWD by simply removing a fuse. I know this could be done on the 2000-01 RS. Maybe could be as simple as a blown fuse?

In this model you install a fuse under the hood to put it in two wheel drive (in case the car needs to be towed).
GT-LTD.00
What fuse under the hood makes it two wheel drive? Im kinda curious to know
bbren
There is a single fuse holder, under the hood, on the passenger side of the fire wall, near the strut tower. You remove the small cover and insert a fuse (10-A I think) to put the car in FWD only mode. This is intended for emergency use, when the car needs to be towed and there is not a flat bed truck available. (Note: applies to automatic transmission cars only). This disables the AWD system. I have heard rumors of people inserting the fuse to turn off AWD hoping they will get beter MPG, but I think they end up damaging the system/transmission.
