deadeye
As RAO said, on the 05 Legacy the fuel filter is in the fuel tank. I miss not being able to change it ea.8-10K miles.Have any of you installed one in the line on the left fender well where the Forrester 04 filter used to be ?? Scoobymods has some good pics and inst. on how to get to it in the fuel tank. Not as simple as a few yrs ago tho.. deadeye
RabidMonk
I don't understand the benefit of placing an additional fuel filter in-line behind the stock filter. The in-tank filter will be in front of it doing all of the real filtering. I can't think of any case where the in-tank filter would stop filtering and begin passing particulates downstream to the second filter. When the in-tank filter collects too many particulates, it will restrict flow and need replaced. The second filter won't really ever serve any purpose. Maybe I'm just missing something here? hondas123
I think he's saying instead of having it in the fuel tank just install one in the fender well. That way it's accessable to change without going into the fuel tank. (At least I think that's what he's asking if anyone has done) Not an additional filter. - The Mortgage Man
firedawgs
So what is the recommended changing interval? Updated my vBGarage:
RabidMonk
Hmm. I had assumed that the in-tank filter was integrated into the fuel pump assembly and was generally not removable. AFAIK there is no recommended change interval on the in-tank filter.
