On the Outback, it also signifies the top trim level - comes with all the goodies (navigation system, MP3 CD player, etc). I haven't driven it much yet and I'm out of the country so it'll be a little while. It's definitely not a GT: It has a different driving feel. Smoother ride, smoother engine. Peppier than the 2002 Outback VDC that it replaced, but acceleration isn't close to that of the GT (part of that is the automatic versus the manual transmission). Of course, it's still in the 'break-in' period so it hasn't been pushed yet.
