Bov types

Just got my 06 lgt. My suggested hp boost is sti turbo,intercooler,intake manifold and Cobb remapping device. Also suggested are a wrx type bov and aftermarket catted downpipe. What is the difference between a bov and a bpv? Is the stock uppipe 3" diameter? I would want to match the aftermarket downpipe to the stock uppipe that I will be keeping. My catback is a borla.

Thanks

BOV = Blow Off Valve

BPV = By-Pass Valve (or even a typo since "O" and "P" are next to each other)

in other words, the same thing.

Stock uppipe is no-where near 3" dia. maybe 2" to 2.5" tops.

You should get something as less restrictive as possible.. the more the turbo has room to breathe out, the better it can breathe in as well, you dont want the turbo to keep all that hot exhaust gases.

Some had boost creep due to a catless downpipe, but you'll have to search for that information of why it happens. My guess is that it's based off the internal wastegate of the turbo and dealing the the stock EBC unit thinking it's not reading or seeing what it should be seeing correctly.

A BPV is the same thing as a BOV, but people generally use the term BPV when they are referring to a recirculating BOV.

Also, don't increase the diameter of the uppipe. It can only cause bad things such as extra heatsoke to the engine block and more turbo lag.
