Shakes
I know they are completly different beasts, but I was wondering if anyone could compair the handling of a LGT to that of the TL? My friend has a TL and I love it, but its only FWD. However the brakes, Navi and XM radio I love. Anyhow, I am in the deciding stages of what to get and the LGT is high up there. So any information on their handling would be wonderful.

eVoMotion
My father's TL lost all electrical after one year, had torque steer when you stepped on it, spun the tires in the rain at each light and lost $10K in value. Go with a LGT.
Shakes
The electrical I can gaurentee is a fluke, torque steer sucks, I don't know what life without wheel spin is and even the LGT will lose 10k in value. Sadly the only cars I have seen hold value in the last few years are Volkswagens. Representing Deutschland ya V W EDIT: just read what I said and I sound like an ass. Not meaning to at all. I do appreciate your comments.
Martyr
Hi Shakes, I owned a 2004 Acura TL (White Diamond Pearl, Parchment Interior, 5 EAT) with Navi and XM. Awesome car, handled great and a killer sound system. I had no such problem with depreciation since after owning it for about 9 months I sold it for about $4,000 less than I bought it when brand new (i.e. bought for $33.5K, sold for $29.5K). It was in pristine condition. Next I bought my 2005 Legacy GT Limited Wagon (Regal Blue Pearl, Ivory Interior, 5MT) for $26K brand new. Dropped my payments by $130/month, dropped insurance about $10/month, and I have what I consider to be the better car. Don't get me wrong, not bashing the TL, I loved it...I just love all the extra features on my Legacy better! The pros of the Legacy over the TL: All Wheel Drive (and no freaking torque steer...TL is bad about that) Turbo (i.e. easier to tune/mod for better performance, and gratifying) Faster performance Wagon with more space to carry stuff HUGE Sunroof into the back seat More affordable Slightly better/smoother ride Pros of the TL over the Legacy: Excellent stock sound system XM Radio (although I wasn't that impressed due to sound quality, price, selection) Better highway fuel economy (32-33 mpg for me vs. 26ish in the Legacy) Memory Seats Bluetooth Voice controlled radio, climate control, and Navigation (sort of gimmicky tho) HID headlights stock The biggest drawback of the Legacy for me is the inability to easily customize/replace the stock sound system so I could replace it with a nice MP3 deck. Of course, you couldn't play MP3s in the TL either. So, I recommend the Legacy. Hope I helped, Martyr
elej
i can't speak for the TL, but I've owned a '97 Type SH and '99 LX. in comparison to those, i am very happy with the LGT. I'm not going back to FWD anytime soon. no snow where I am, but it rains a lot- i find the AWD very useful. The LGT has more body roll stock than the SH, but this is easily fixed, (search RSB). The enjoyment I get from driving it is on par with my experience with the SH (which was one of my favorite cars & one of the best looking cars on the road IMO). I like honda products, and would own again if the RL's SH AWD were applied accross the model line, but for now, i'll take the LGT. hope this helps in your decision. Shakes
Why thank you sir! I would much rather see quality over quantity anyday. And I will say it now and attempt to hold my tongue later, but ROTA's and other knock off stuff really gets to me. Got any pics you care to whore? elej
nice ride, the car ain't bad either. (forgive me for that one please) that was my color, awesome., but my SH wasn't that sweet. i had DC headers and AEM short ram. and that's as far as I got. I couldn't bring myself to spend the $$$ on Mugen. I think you'll like the LGT.
dtmenace
my gf drives an '05 TL and i have (<<== see sidebar). I like her car for roadtrips (comfie/good passing gear/stereo). but for "spirited" driving (read: hangin' it all out), the TL scares the pants off me in hard turns and totally predictable off the line ==>> you stomp it, and you can predict that the nose will point in every direction before locking up!(TOO MUCH torque steer). And that's all I have to say on the subject....unless you have any ?'s, in which case, i always have more/too much too say.
emorphien
Sadly the only cars I have seen hold value in the last few years are Volkswagens. I've never seen VWs to hold that much value, usually Honda and Toyota group cars hold value better IME.
elej
^you'll do well on the sale of that SH, just wait for the right buyer. i was just looking over those pics again and had to say one more time, what an awesome looking car. my favorite detail was always the slick slab-sided doors. it is such a smooth/clean design. But on a whole I don't know if VWs hold value as well as Honda/Toyota. Not from what I've seen but to be honest after all my friends who've had VWs I don't pay much attention because I don't really want one.

Xenonk
lift throttle oversteer and throttle-oversteer for the GT FTW!! I think the TL can only do lift throttle oversteer. I rather have both Keefe
RuskiTrombone
VWs have one of the lowest residual values. I guess when you buy a used jetta for 6K and then sell it for 3K it doesn't seem bad, but when you buy a Jetta at 20K new and sell one year later for 10K it looks horrible. On top of that the car will only have 5K miles on the odometer from a year worth of driving because half the time it probably spent in the shop. DMan
32-33mpg on the highway with the TL? Tell me it's not true. In my 05 Accord V6 sedan I'm seeing 26mpg on the highway.
