rgsuby
I just recently replaced all four tires on my LGT with BfGoodrich gforce Sports. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport One of my RE92 started coming apart and I was in a bind therefore i had to choose from the selection Merchants tires had. In any case these tires looked fine. Anyways to my problem... My RE92 were never really quiet, but these new tires are loud. Most of the noise seems to be coming from the back of the car. I've even had backseat passengers comment on how loud the car is. I have messed around with the tire pressure. I've tried 35f 32r and now i'm running 39f 35r. Eitherway i'm still experinecing the same problem. The car drives and handles fine. Cruising on the interestate seems to be stable and smooth up to 90mph except for the noise. Do i need to have these tires balanced? or do i have a bad set? Thanks...
Xenonk
nope, sounds like a normal "buzz" to me that you are experiencing from the tire. You should hear a set of Falken Azenis, they are LOUD. the tires you bought are 340 treadwear, so the compound is a little bit harder than your RE92s most likely.. it's not a best way to rate a tire by it's loudness, but it could be an indication of why your tires are loud. Also, tire tread pattern also makes a difference (a good example is the Yokohama A032s vs A048s.. same compound material, just different in tread design). devobuzz
Strange that the tire got a "8.0" rating on noise - which is in the excellent category. Move the back tires to the front and see what happens... Ralph

Longitude
Maybe off topic, but are stock STi tires (Bridgestone RE070) supposed to be noisy as well? I just picked me up, and I hate the howling at any speed.
CreoSTi
Maybe off topic, but are stock STi tires (Bridgestone RE070) supposed to be noisy as well? I just picked me up, and I hate the howling at any speed. Mine were pretty loud... But they were on an STi, which has minimal sound deadening to begin with. -Mike-

Yup these are directionals. I will go check. It just seems most of the noise is coming from the back.
rgsuby
Yup these are directionals. I will go check. It just seems most of the noise is coming from the back. Just checked. Appears all 4 tires are facing the correct direction. I'm thinking about having a local shop rotate them and rebalance. Just to see if it helps... jagcars26
My STi tires were loud also,,there was a great deal less noise when I went with the winter setup with A/S tires.Open tread designs are the most common source of tire noise,.

EL PAALO
gforce sports aren't loud ............ oh, wait ....... kster
If you like your tires quiet, don't get the BFGoodrich KDW2 either, these are as loud as Azenis.
