What's the fastest 2005+ Legacy known...and how fast?

I'm at my final steps. I am Torn...and I mean TORN between the 2003 Mercedes C32 AMG...and a Legacy GT.... I mean I can't figure if I want 6 banger supercharged or the Lecagy. Is there anyone not satisfied with their Legacy so far? Is there anything you think you would do different that you know now and didn't know before? I know a lot more about my STi than I ever did and I would do a lot of things different......

.....well here is how it started....I started up a business, I was thinking no matter what Subaru made more than 1 STi to make a profit. I ended up selling it because the damn car payments are not worth it. Plus I bought it used with 10,000 miles, 5.9APR, right now Subaru has a finance sale 3.9 for 48 months which will make the car payment on a brand new car $30.00 a month than what I was paying.....Since American society is already used to that damn car payment....I was like...EH, what the hell...So i'm looking and huntingl. I dig the SPEC B but they want 6k more for RIMS, PAINT, SHOCKS, and NAVI. Ksport Systems makes a better suspension that I want. I think I will buy the $800.00 Magelin from Circuit City..... You guys have to see that thing, it's the razer of all DPS systems....and I really need my Kenwood DDX back in there. It changed my life. As far as Rim, the stock ones would be my winter beaters....and then I would look for some good summer ones..... as soon as I find the offset. But yeah, the STi is nothing special when you slam 1000 miles a week and then A boxer with High Mileage is not really a good thing..... I don't think I will ever upgrade the turbo from stock....just for cylinder 4s safe being. A lot of people blew their STi from turbo's because they don't know how the heck to upgrade them and they never go into the fuel system part of it........ Think of it like this, I sold the STi, I went through parts like crazy...with a new STi even with a Legacy, I NOW know what I would do right to make it happen and to remove any downtime.....

I like how the thread title has nothing to do with what you're asking... I would guess that pdx tuning has the highest horsepower legacy, but as far as "fastest" that is debatable. This link has the 1/4 mile times, but some of the VERY fast legacy guys are not into that, so who's to say...

the other thing to note is how you define "fast"? because the gearing on the GT is limiting the car to 150mph or less (blame in on the final drive and 5th gear being that way).

and another answer to your question about pricing vs. modding the GT is:

however fast you want the GT to be based on how much cash you want to spend.

Noobs notes:

-Sold my used STI payment too high

-Now Subaru has good finance deals - want to buy new Subaru

-Circuit City has some nice stuff I want in my car

-Spec B not worth it to me

-High mileage boxer engines are bad to me

-1000 miles a week in an STI is tiring

-I know now that adding a GT35R turbo without injectors and fuel pump is bad

In a Flavah Flave kinda way........YEAHHHHHHHBOYYYYYYYY!

Wipeout...accross the board the Legacy will be the quicker car once you spend 2-3k on upgrades. In EVERY aspect

Stock...the LGT is a tad better in accel...handling.... it's no match stock

Total ownership costs will be about half also:)

Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!

According to Paul @ AVO, the Legacy has the gearing and aerodynamics for 166mph, but lacks the necessary torque above 5,500 rpm.

I'd go with the leggy for multiple reasons:

Not many people know what it is (sleeper)

It's useable all year long (awd)

cheaper to fix

cheaper to mod aftermarket

no one is gonna Key a subaru just cause its a subaru

the MB is gonna have the nicer interior and creature comforts

probly gonna have a better suspension/brakes setup from the factory

Very true on both counts. The cost of ownership will be much higher with the C32, though.

The C32 is an awesome car, no question about it. If you're into modding, though, the LGT can be turned into a pretty amazing all-around sport sedan for not a lot of money.

Here's a nice little page on the C32:

They are two totally different cars. Would I trade my LGT straight up for a 2003 C32? No, but I'd love to have a C32 as a second car.
