Austin2.5i
Does anyone know of any good reason why Subaru didn't put that cool dual latch system on the front doors like it did on the back doors? I love the sound that those rear doors make when they close, but the front's sound more like "normal" cars. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just out of my frickin' mind? bemani
I don't think they do market studies on what door latches sound 'cool'??? No idea what you're talking about.

brady_bunch
I know what you are talking about but I don't think the side impact beam "latch" makes any difference. I think it is more a function of the shape of the door and its position on the car. Just like tapping on a drum in the middle sounds different from tapping on a drum near the rim. I agree that it sounds more "solid" when closing. :)
Austin2.5i
Glad to see I'm not crazy, brady bunch. Your explanation makes sense. The door is significantly smaller, so that may be why too. I wonder why they didn't put the latch in front if it's for side impact?
axis008
Moved this thread to the exterior section. Carry on :). -ben
Subaguru
I also know what you mean about it sounding more "solid". Seems that the glass up front rattles a little too much (especially when the windows are down). Doesn't really bother me, but I know what page you're on. agctr
I have to admit, the sound does sound pretty cool, very solid indeed although u have to use a bit more force to close the rear doors due to the extra latch. Adam.
Ken S
Actually, I think all rear doors in Subies that I've seen sound more solid when closing. My Forester did the same thing. Ken
agctr
Just dont have an accident in the rear or side as they can be a b**** to line up and get right. Adam.
fan42025
Yes, the doors close nice and solid. Got good comments from various people. Still I like the idea that BMW have with the CIs: As you open the door the window automatically goes down a couple of inches to make it easier to close the door without slamming it. But then the doors are bigger. Come to think of it, I wonder how a 2-door GT would look like.
