sandwood
Anyone in the Mid-A interested in scheduling a day to have a tuner come and work up a custom map for your AP'ed Legacy? Typically how these things work is you chose a tuner to (presumably) fly in, then you identify a facility that is willing to rent their dyno for a day. For scheduling purposes it would most likely have to be on a satuday. The tuner pays for their travel and the dyno rental, you pay the tuner for your tune. Please PM me if you are interested in about how much this would cost. There are a number of tuners who do this, so identifying who we want to come is job #1. Options include, at the least, TDC, PDX, RiftsWRX, and XXTuning. In order for this to make sense and be economically feasible, at least 5 people would be needed. I don't want to get on Tide's bad side, but I believe without discussing cost or the actual name of whom we select as the tuner here, we are not running foul of the law. I know that MachV and Agile are the two local AP tuners, but some of us are interested in specific tuners, and doing it this way can be cost competitive. Lastly, the earliest this would be for is mid/late-March, in order to have time to organize it. Let me know if you are interested. getting out of the legacy game

highwaydrifter
Alex, i was actually planning on flying Mike frome Gruppe-s out some time soon. And doing the same, only problem is finding a GOOD dyno (read loadbearing dyno like a mustang or dyno dynamics) that is decently priced. Curry automtoive is quoting out 205 an hour (ouchie). Was looking as far away as phili for possible places but i am afraid i may have to settle for something a bit... umm.. well crappy (like a dyno jet).... Anyways let me know who would be down, i know he is heading out this way for the Goto Racing VIR race, was figuring on having him show up a day or two earlier to do a dyno day on a friday or something.. ou guys interested? (he tunes, TECs, Ecutek, AP's, Utecs, AEM's, Motec, Hydras, etc) Only guy i trust to touch my car (him and shiv)

jagcars26
im just a dyno snob... mesa wants a loadbearing dyno!!! Don't you need a loadbearing type dyno to tune a 5eat correctly?? If so ,,that would be my choice also.
highwaydrifter
If the tuner knows what he is doing he can compensate a bit as far as maintaining afrs and what not, normaly if you tune on a non load bearing dyno you would want to make sue that the tuner does a few "road tunes" to iron out the differences between "load" and "no load" tunes... This is something that took ispeed about 5 years to figure out (that and use a wideband)... anyways a loadbearing dyno is worth it... im thinking the 40 bucks extra an hour may be worth it
PeterJMC
Bumpity... has there been a decision made on the shop that will be hosting this?
sandwood
it's a question of what kind of dyno, I guess. dynapacks are definitely out. What kind of dyno does MachV have? I still have to do some more research. I wd love to get this setup though. getting out of the legacy game
PGT
Mach V doesn't have a dyno. Ultimate does and it's a non-load bearing dyno.

sandwood
I've been corresponding with a guy over at Nasioc and one option is a minimum of 3 people, Jorge/RiftsWRX flies in and tunes and, iirc, roadtunes, your car on a local dynapack. I don't know the tuner personally, but he generally has a good rep on nasioc and has tuned a lot of subarus. apparently only about 10 legacies, though - which is probably an average number for lgts.... getting out of the legacy game
