rtp
Does anyone know which, if any, make of coilover out for our car has the option of a rubber or polyurethane upper mount instead of a solid metal pillowball mount? This would certainly be a benefit to those of us who are primarily commuters, want a significantly better ride, but without the noise.
ebpda9
i think all mounts arre solid metal, and they only have bushings between the parts to lessen the impact and noise.

Boostjunkie
HKS Hipermax LS+ is said to hav rubber isolated upper mounts. From the pics I've seen the Cusco Zero 1 also seems to use rubber mounts in the top hats. The Tein Basics reuse the stock top hats, so obviously no pillowballs there. driggity
The KW variant 2's will also reuse the stock topmounts. Not sure if they're available yet though.
VXCL
these jdm teins have both a pillowball and some sort of upper rubber mount to help with ride comfort. im looking to get them myslef. should be about $1100-1200 shipped and since they come with top hats you dont need to take the oem shocks apart i believe. anyways scroll down to the superwagon setup. they also use much lower spring rates then others. only slightly more arressive them most lowering springs avail. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15541 MAYHEM #122/22 STS NNJR SCCA AUTOX4U.COM XENON RETRO GUIDE
CreoSTi
The Cusco Zero2 coilovers from Cusco USA use the stock rubber top mount (so I was told). I opted for the JDM version, as I want the pillowball mounts to dial in more negative camber in the front. -Mike-

MSI
Also important to remember what type of bearing the manufacturer is using ! I can easily put a bearing that costs 6$ into our mounts and lower the price 140$ !!! But, the part is going to make shitty clunking sounds and not be able to tolerate as high loads as a higher quality bearing. The reason I will be suppling the kits with the PU piece is that metal to metal may not clunk, but transmits a lot more vibration than a PU part. The PU part will allow a lot more deflection than the pilo bearing.... need to have both options, especially for a street car. (PU = Polyurethane) -mark
PGT
Mark - I might be interested in set with the poly bushings for the Cusco's we spoke about. They are noisy, but not overly so. Will your tophats work with no issue?
MSI
I would need to know the thread pitch of the shaft. Also the height of the spring top hap to the top of the threaded shaft. Should not be any trouble though. I can throw in a taller spacer FOC just to be safe. -mark
