Chappy
I drive approx. 6k miles a year. Spirited but not abusive. No track time. I want to lower the car and going coilovers look like a good option. Im thinking of the GP Moto's or Cusco's. I want to beable to go back to stock height in the winter. I guess this is my main reason. My other option to consider is Racecomps Bilstein/Swift package for 1799. Seems like a great setup but no adjustability. Thanks for all the input. AWD-Turbo
If you really need the adjustability, coilovers are the way to go. The downsides are that they need to be setup properly to get the car to handle well, and they’ll eventually need to be rebuilt. I’m happy with my takeoff Bilsteins, but I plan on putting sti pinks on soon.

Xenonk
at 6k/year, you'll never have to think about rebuilds until 5 to 6 years down the road. Keefe
Th3Franz
Tein Basics might be the ticket since you just want to adjust height right? Since you don't race the car, you don't need to adjust the stiffness.. Depends on how much you want to spend. heh -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz

scans007
I had coilovers, they were too much for my 35k a year driving....I got them with the same though, raise for the winter.....lower in the summer...... Well now I just have the S-techs...and have be'n driving all over the place, I love them I wouldn't worry so much about the raising and lowering of your ride, focus on what you want/need for driving....... 135 bucks for springs 900 - 1500 for coilovers if only 7k a year or so.....that's not many winter miles....is it enough to justify all the money just to raise the car for the winter for maybe 600 miles? Xenonk
^ that's why I ride with the highest allowed clearance for all of my wheels and what not.. Keefe

On the opposite of that. I find the stock dampers w/springs allow for some extra motion vs coilovers/spring/shock combinations. Given that there isn't a cheap choice for adjustable shocks. A mild set of coilovers can actually be cheaper than say ions + bilstiens. Given that they are cheaper and they provide similiar/better performance, I can't say that they are a bad deal. Chappy
Alright so some say yes and a couple say no..I guess one of my reasons for coilovers is that I wont need to replace my OEM struts/shocks in a year or two because a lowering spring prematurely wore them out. Maybe Im over thinking it. If I do springs only and in a couple years I need to upgrade my struts/shocks I guess I can live with that. I didnt know that I would need to have the car re-aligned everytime I raised it or lowered it. Maybe Racecomps Bilstein/STi Pinks package is the way to go. I guess my drop will be moderate with the Pinks so I shouldnt have a huge problem in the winter. I saw how low Scans car is and if he isnt have problems that I sure wont. If I go this route:http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22587&page=3 Is everthing there that I'll need for the install? Thanks for all the help..I wish this was an easy decision. Chappy
Seems like the GP Moto deal is still alive for 1099 shipped direct from GP Moto so unless there is some major reason why I should do it differently, I think Im going to order them tomorrow. Just seems like too good of a deal to pass on. Should I go with 7k or 8k? That seems to be all that is available right now.
