G.T.Subie
So I found this nice scratch a couple weeks ago and I got an estimate today for $800 Denial is your best friend
laz
It really does not look like it was keyed, but more like someting scratched it. $800 beans for that! Must be the metallic paint that is expensive. X ---
G.T.Subie
Its kind of hard to see but it has a perfect pattern to it. I dont think it was keyed. They need to paint rear passenger DOOR and REAR Panel and fade all the way to the roof. Aczwild
Shopping cart FTW? That sucks, sorry bud, but that sounds pretty steep JDM'd All to hell Thanks Jimmy @ Hkc-Speed.com! RIP Coxx & Thanks
G.T.Subie
No shopping cart either. I was thinking Umbrella or Bag because the Location and it was Pouring that night. Also same cars were parked in the same spot all night. Denial is your best friend

laz
I was afraid you would say a part in Jersey where I actually find myself once a month! But hoboken is crazy for the parking spaces! Plus Jersey people are really horrible at parking (no offense). So it was definitely not a shopping cart, but I think your guess of an umbrella, or something else sharp is a good guess. Is the tail light also scratched? It looks that way from pictures. X ---
Aczwild
HobokenThere's the problem right there. Every time I go to Jersey I feel I need to tape pillows to my doors JDM'd All to hell Thanks Jimmy @ Hkc-Speed.com! RIP Coxx & Thanks
G.T.Subie
Its not the light itself but my JINSU tail overlay. I now park in garage everyday but that doesnt gurantee $hit. Denial is your best friend

OCDetails
You are sure it isn't something you can rub out yourself? Get some Meguiar's ScratchX or GS27 and give that a shot. Apply a bit to the corner of a folded shop towel and then rub in the direction of the scratch. You would be surprised at what comes out with that stuff. $800 is way too steep. Someone is taking advantage of the situation. This isn't a job for a total repaint. A good touch up artist would be able to handle that. I wuold charge $200 for that and I'm way expensive for touch up. It keeps people from asking me to do it. Anyway, check around. Touch up, paintless dent removal, winshield chip repair, and even things like window tinting and pin striping are all things that mobile detailers will learn so they can bring in extra business. I'll bet you could get your swirls polished out at the same time and probably get a deal. It won't cost anywhere near $800 to get that fixed. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . G.T.Subie
I tried acouple things but the scratches are through the clear coat.I also want it to look seamless other wise everytime I look at my first "New" car I'll get Pissed. OCDetails
Not all touch up is done with a pen brush. If you are ok paying $800 bucks for it then you might as well just make an insurance claim. No matter how much you pay it will never look seamless. The quality of paint will always be different from the rest of the car. I can always tell when a car has had work done on it. Give them your expectations. It is surprising how close to un noticable touch up artists can get. With an air brush it would be as near seamless as you will get. Or you can just make an insurance claim and expect to have each panel repainted. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . TYNY
ouch, agree it might be a bag or something as someone was walking/squeezing by your car. $800 sounds high but if it looks unnoticeable after the job is done then it's worth it. hope it's not like the guy w/ the silver LGT on here that has the hood and quarter panels that don't look anything alike.
