rfd425
I was at my local dealer tonight to get an oil change for my wife's OB, and they had a brand new '05 LGT Limited 5MT for sale for $23,995. It had the STi short-shifter, auto-dimming mirror, upgraded security system, and probably one or two other minor options. MSRP was $29.9K. There was no indication that it was a demo, but the sales department was closed, so I couldn't ask anyone. It was basically identical to my car: Atlantic Blue with the taupe leather interior. That price includes the factory incentive. The dealer was Bloomington Acura/Subaru in Bloomington, MN.
SBT
That's a great deal - well below invoice. Would be interesting to see how many miles are on this car (demo or truly just a back lot left over). Would be interesting to see how many miles are on this car (demo or truly just a back lot left over). Yeah, I'm kind of curious myself what the deal is. They had some other leftover '05's that didn't seem like quite as good of a deal. The car was actually in the showroom, and it had a price tag, but did not say "demo" like one or two of the others did.
Jeffn
There's 2k in rebates on these and about 1000. in holdback so go figure...

So, I'm thinking maybe it is a demo, even though it is not marked as such.
drifterx
it was probably a demo, u should have opened the door and looked at the Odometer
rfd425
it was probably a demo, u should have opened the door and looked at the OdometerI would have liked to, but the odometers on these cars aren't readable unless the key is turned on. There were no sales personnel there, since the sales floor was closed. They had a number of '05's with green "reduced" price tags hanging from the mirrors, and a few of them said "demo". This one did not say demo, but it's possible that it was one anyway. I might go back to that dealer this week or next since I'm due for the 15,000 mile service on my own car. I'll try to find out. If you can get into the car, all you have to do is briefly press the odometer A/B/reset button and the odometer will light up for a while.

fatbastard
Were you ever able to confirm if this was a demo? If I could get an 05 with some options at that price I would be all in. It would also be a good bargaining chip with my local dealer.

The salesman there that sold me my wife's Outback has his own website (www.subaru.net), and he says he will ship cars anywhere in the country. I'm not sure what the expense is on that, but if you e-mail him, he'll get back to you.

rfd425
Update on this car: it appears to be sold, as it's no longer in the showroom, and I didn't see it anywhere on the lot. It was there a week ago. It was not technically a demo, but it had 287 miles. I asked why it was being sold so cheap, and the answer I got was that the manager probably wanted to clear it out before they lost their dealer cash at the end of February. It seemed to be priced low even compared to other leftover '05's they had, but the salesman said that similar deals could probably be gotten on the others as well. They had two LGT wagons (non-limited, 5EAT) that they were selling for $24,495, that had MSRP's of $29.2K and $29.3K. This ABP 5MT sedan that I started the thread about had a higher MSRP of $29.9K, but they were selling it for $23,995. The car that's now in it's place in the showroom is an '05 GRP non-limited 5EAT LGT sedan with an MSRP of $28.7K, and they are asking the same $23,995, so the ABP limited for that price seems like it was one hell of a deal. I almost wonder if they screwed up when they were pricing it. Anyway, someone got a great deal. I hope they show up here! Also, it gives an idea of what kind of price is possible on leftover '05's. That's probably the best price I've seen yet for an LGT Limited. I'm in Minnetonka too, and your car is basically identical to mine. I think the only differences are that I have the Momo knob, and you have the subwoofer. You should consider coming to our meet at Joe Senser's in Bloomington on Saturday March 11 @2pm (see the "MN meet" thread in the North Central forum). Ahhh just kidding.....my own fault....I was talking to Scott about it and was trying to figure out how to get it back to NJ but then I got a job offer and had to clear up those details before I could consider buying a car..when I was ready I had already gotten the PM from rfd saying it was gone...Well best of luck with the car and hopefully I can find another great deal but I am thinking the chances are pretty slim. Good Luck!

LegGTLT
WOW! Awesome deal. Could anyone explain to me how this works? MSRP of $29.9k down to invoice of $27,XXX (or something close) -$2500 - WHAT ELSE? I'm happy for you, don't get me wrong, I just want to understand the numbers is all. I paid $25.9k back in July/August (not complaining cause that was an awesome deal at the time and I got exactly what I wanted) but I got $500 off invoice and a $1500 rebate. How did you get the other $1200 outta them? (I'm figuring that cause my MSRP was $400 more then yours, so take off $400 from my price and then another $1000 for the extra rebate and you get $1200 left before you hit $23.3k) Is that ALL of their holdback? AKA: they didn't make a profit? Ideas? Answers? Please PM joeleodee For All Site Questions. fatbastard
LegGTLT....I know what you mean...I was worried about what was wrong with the car since it was so low and I had rfd helping me out and told me it looked damn good....I even posted a thread about the orange peel I thought I saw but I had to take care of the job switch first. I really don't know how they got it soo low but I was told by one dealer and this could be complete BS since he wouldn't/couldn't match the price locally for a car with no options.....that the invoice prices on the cars increased 2 or 3 times during the first year, so if the car was older they could sell it cheaper. It might be true since the info I got on this car indicated that it was on the lot since 8/04. It could also be that they were concerned manufacturer incentives would disappear at the end of the month for 05's. Unless I can find a simialr deal I think I will sit tight and see what the 07's bring and then decide if they are worth the price difference with the 06. LegGTLT
rfd425- Any background on how they got the price that low? Just getting rid of it, like a "managers special", so they didn't care if they lost money? Or did they give up every last holdback dollar to sell it before incentives dissapeared? Thanks! rfd425
To: Scott W Putnam Subject: '05 ABP LGT in your showroom Scott, My wife and I bought an '06 Outback from you back in October, after being referred to you by another member of LegacyGT.com. When I was at your dealership recently for service, I noticed you have an '05 LGT limited (almost identical to mine) advertised for $23,995. I thought this was a remarkably good price, so I mentioned it on LegacyGT.com for anyone who might be interested. I said I didn't know if it was a demo or not, but it was not marked as such. At the dealership tonight, I spoke to Trish, who opened up the car and showed me that it had 278 miles, which is not unexpected for a leftover '05. The one question I have is that the car seems priced very cheap, even compared to your other leftover '05's. For example, You have two Legacy GT wagons (non-limited, auto tranny) advertised for $24,495, and their MSRP's are $29.2K and $29.3K. The sedan I mentioned above has a higher MSRP of $29.9K, but you have it advertised for less than the wagons ($23,995). So, I am wondering if there is any other reason why the sedan is being offered at such a low price. I would really appreciate any information you could give me on this. We had a pleasant sales experience with you when we bought the Outback, and I am happy to refer business to you whenever I can. I would like to make sure that I am passing on the best information I can about the cars, though. Thanks! Sincerely, **** **** On the pricing of the wagons vs the sedans- The sedan has been here a bit longer, and that (the 23,995) was what hit Angie (Subaru NC Manager) for the price.. it was kind of a subjective thing, and she would probably do the same type of deal on the wagons as well. Our money on them will probably disappear at the end of Feb. and that is what I think she is afraid of. Hope this makes sense, Scott
