Some seriouse questions for some seriouse car people. I have over 222,xxx miles on my Outback 2.5 manual, its driven very very very hard but still runs very well. My intetions are to have a 300hp, (N/A 4sure), rally champ. I also want to lift it about 2". I also want it to continue the extreeme reliability thing with beefed up everything. Im also thinking 4 STi seats :icon_bigg . I cant find any of this stuff so a little help would be great.

I have been looking @ some built N/A engines but they are around $7k. I have been thinking alot about super charging, (the turbine type, forgot what its called). I was also wondering if the 6spd STi trans has different gear ratios depending what year, and which one is the strongest. I know this will be $$ but thats the price for excellence, for me subaru is the only choice. I also want to stay away from the crappy WRX (subaru USA f@#$ed up that car).

Thats not what Im going for. I want a 97' Legacy Outback (NOT sport) for the rest of my life. I have driven hundreds of cars in ALL price ranges and nationalities and the AWD, reliability and performance are unmached, and Im not blind, Im a huge huge car guy. I love all kinds of cars from muscle cars to rice rockets to euro crusers, but as the perfect package the Outback has it all for me.

Back to topic the car is chiped, scratched, and dented, and it will stay that way till it rusts to the ground but the engine and drivetrain will dominate. I want to school even STi's on the street and still make it to the mud pit to school jeeps (which I already do, The jeep part not the STi part)

The only way a real "car guy" would attempt to 'keep up with STi's' is this way.

Hoping to spank STi by modding your NA is nearly laughable, to me anyways, not to mention, even if youdid get your NA to 300HP, all an STi needs to have is an aftermarket UP/DP and your car won't be schooling anything.

Engine swap FTW, it's the only TRUE way.

You sound like me, for engine mods for the NA right now hit RalliTEK, they just got in a bunch of NA goodies

I want to keep my '97 GT for good, but I'm gonna go turbo as soon as the cash allows. I'm gonna swap with a Craford S3L Semi-closed and then mate it with the 6-speed STi. Its gonna be alot of work and $$$, but its gonna be a blast and I'm gonna have a big killer on my hands since its lighter than STi's and LGT's D

Oh I love my NA, too. Love the sound (expecially with my GP-Moto intake) and the feel of the car. If it came stock with 250 hp, NA, or that was easy to attain with mods then I'd stick with it and not plan on going with boost, but I would like that huge amount of power in such a hot and sexy car. I'd love to do the build up, if not with my own GT, then with a '99 Outback wagon, repainted all white, with the GT wagon rear spoiler and hood, the Boosted Crawford block and a powder coated black FMIC to deliver the cooling goods.
